My first visit to the SAS Lounge in Newark (EWR) was already some sort of farewell: the lounge is already scheduled for rebranding and will turn into an Air France Lounge during the next years. I likely won’t have another flight from there with a SkyTeam member until that. The more, I wanted to push for a fast review of my August 2026 experience.

SAS Lounge Newark (EWR) – Location & Access

The SAS Lounge is located at the B3 concourse of Newark (EWR) Terminal B. It is located right before the the satellite holding the gates B60 to B68.

The lounge opens daily from 7:00 to 23:00. The main focus is on SAS’ daily flights to Copenhagen (CPH) and Stockholm (ARN) . However, the lounge is also offering access to several SkyTeam members flying from this part of the Greater New York City airport in New Jersey. Any SkyTeam business class flight or Elite Plus membership allows access to the lounge. For SAS flights, this means EuroBonus Gold or Diamond status. In general, SAS Plus / Premium Economy guests have access to the lounge as well. However, due to its capacity, SAS might limit the access. Additionally, the lounge is operating as the lounge for Emirates, El Al, and other airlines.

SAS Lounge Newark (EWR) – Atmosphere

When you enter the lounge, you feel like being in one of the European SAS Lounges like the SAS Lounge in Copenhagen (CPH). The main design of the lounge is equivalent, coming with barstool chairs for working and a mixture of different other seating options. Overall, it is very functional. You have a nice view of some parts of the airport’s operation from the window at the end of the lounge. Nonetheless, I felt that the lounge is rather dark.

If you pass the buffet area on your left, there is an additional room, which has a warmer, more welcoming design. The lounge also features a meeting room. As said, the lounge can be very full and may reach its capacity.

SAS Lounge Newark (EWR) – Food & Drink

Especially in regards of warm options, the lounge is superior to most European SAS lounges. There is also a nice selection of cold and sweet items at the buffet, which is located close to the reception. The distribution of power sockets in the lounge is very good. Only US style plugs have been featured at the areas I had a detailed look into.

You can help yourself with soft and hot drinks. However, US laws prohibit to help yourself with alcoholic beverages, so that there is always a team member around to help you. The selection of drinks is quite nice. During my visit, many people struggled with the not that intuitive soft drink dispenser. This also lead to the situation that the floor in front of it felt very sticky.

SAS Lounge Newark (EWR) – Services

The staff was overall friendly. WiFi is provided by SAS, the WiFi is protected by a password. There are three non-gendered toilet cabins in one corner of the lounge. The SAS Lounge does not offer the opportunity of having a shower.

SAS Lounge Newark (EWR) – My View

During my visit, there were likely more people who asked to buy into the lounge than those who in fact had access. Terminal B of Newark Airport (EWR) is just not the finest aviation spot out there. Thus, the SAS Lounge at Newark Airport (EWR) indeed adds quite a lot of value. However, it is a rather average place with some weaknesses. Nonetheless, I was glad about my stay there.
