Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 23rd October 2026)

I am still recovering from an intense trip to the United States. I hope you enjoy my The Last Bigger & Weirder Dance trip report from following Weird Al Yankovic over there. It will be closed this weekend. My new song picks this week is very fall-alike – a lot of warming, slower tracks in a singer-songwriter style. Hope you enjoy!

My Song of the Week:

Phil Haydt – Shine

Phil Haydt and his music feels like the blueprint of a singer-songwriter to me. A bit of folk, a touch of pop and straight storytelling – that’s what made Shine appear on the top of my list this week. He started releasing music in 2024, when he also released his only EP so far, Everything in Between. The song is also his debut on Flyctory.com.

Other Great Songs this Week:

Niels Juel Arge – Home

The Faroe Islands are my happy place, it feels like coming home to me, when I drive down the road from Faroe Islands Airport (FAE) towards the capital Torshavn. Not too surprisingly, Niels Juel Arge hit my emotions right on the spot when he states It’s my place, it feels like home in his new release. Tusund takk!

Richie Necker feat. Veronika Merkl – Look at the Moon

I featured Richie Necker in June 2021, when he shared his album New Songs and Untold Stories. This week, the German singer-songwriter shares a gentle, harmonic duet, Look at the Moon. He is joined by Veronika Merkl, who is also known as Vero Nika. A beautiful song to dream away on a unfriendly evening in fall.

Floor Jansen – Everything is Moving On

The Dutch metal singer Floor Jansen is taking the next stop towards her album Hytress, which will be released in January 2027. Briefly thereafter, she will be on tour (see my Tour Date Overview). Right after I dedicated a Song of my Life post for her Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort, she announced the split from Nightwish. Her new song Everything is Moving On is melodic and rocking, but not as hard as her previous single releases.

The Commoners – Lost In The Highlights

The Commonoers are a Canadian band from Toronto. They do rock and roots rock since 2009. The song will also be part of their third studio album, which is scheduled for next year. In November, they will tour the United Kingdom.

DaS Neuwerk – Sommer in Berlin

Summer is definitely over, but DaS Neuwerk reflect about Sommer in Berlin. The band is based in Erfurt and look back to their younger days in their new song. The song is absolutely fun to me.

David Kushner – I Walk Away

What a voice! David Kushner is absolutely impressing, also with his new song I Walk Away. The 26 year old artist from Chicago has released his debut album The Dichtomy in 2024 and received a golden record in the United States. I am not that much into Christian pop – but I just cannot stop being impressed by this artist.

Albin Lee Meldau – Lonely by Another Name

Albin Lee Meldau is a 1988-born artist from Gothenburg, Sweden. He is doing soul music with a dark blues touch. He has released four albums so far, two each in Swedish and in English. Lonely by Another Name with also be the title track of his upcoming album, which he will share in spring 2027.

John Mayer – Tom and Jerry

John Mayer is a US-American blues rock artist, who is originally from Connecticut. He is globally successful and has won seven Grammy Awards already. Next year, he will have an 18 show residence in Las Vegas. Are there hopes for a new album? His latest one, Sob Rock, is dated as of 2021.

Fitz Brothers – Bring It On

The Fitz Brothers are Felix and Florian Fitz from Austria. The sibling duo recorded an absolutely impressing song, which perfectly feels to fit into the typical mood in fall. Nice one.

Anna Lille – Middle Ground

The song Middle Ground teases Anne Lille’s debut album Master Complicator, which will be released on 15th January 2027. In her home country Norway, she has already played a couple of major festivals this summer. The song sounds very promising.

Texas – Another Way To Cry

Texas simply sounds like Texas – not only due to the characteristic sound of their singer Sharleen Spiteri. The Scottish pop-rock band from Glasgow is celebrating their 40th band anniversary this year. Their biggest album White On Blonde is having its 30th anniversary next year and will be re-released in a special edition on 5th February 2027. Another Way To Cry will be on the record as a new song as well. It simply makes me smile.

Bluegirl – Look At All the Happy People

Another song from the United Kingdom made me smile as well – I just had to include it as well. Look At All The Happy People is the debut single by Bluegirl. She is an alt-pop artist based in London. The song comes with a really catching sound – not too surprisingly, she already got 47k followers on her Instagram account.
