Looking Back To… Puddles Pity Party (31st May 2026, Alpharetta GA)

In my concert report, I already shared my thoughts and impression about Weird Al Yankovic’s performance in Alpharetta on 31st May 2026. However, there is still somebody missing. As during the 2025 tour legs, Al was supported by Puddles Pity Party, the sad clown majorly covering songs of other artists with an ironic and humorous sense. Here are my impressions of his show, presented in my Looking Back To… format with Pictured Story – sized pictures.

Ameris Bank Amphitheatre – Location & Tickets

I already gave you some information about the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in the Weird Al Yankovic review. However, based on that report, I got the feedback that the 12,000 (7,000 covered seats) people venue North of Atlanta did have some transport issues. You can solely approach the place by car and the roads around felt having reached their limits close to the beginning of the concert.

Puddles Pity Party – The Artist

Puddles Pity Party is the alter ego of Michael Geier. He is nowadays based in Atlanta, but was originally born in Philadelphia. The impressing 2.03m tall singer became famous as Big Mike Geier, the front singer of the band Useless Playboys. He also played in other bands and projects before founding the whiteface clown in the late 1990’s. In 2017, he advanced to the quarterfinals of America’s Got Talent. As Puddles Pity Party, he  has released six studio albums, all of which are self-released.

Impressions of Puddles Pity Party in Alpharetta (31st May 2026)

The set of Puddles Pity Party does not alter during the Bigger & Weirder Tour. It started with a Harry Caroll cover, I’m Always Chasing Rainbows. However, what I like about his performances is the interaction with the audience. During Glyn Styler’s Come Cry With Me, he is putting the audience on the screen at his “Cry Cam”, followed by Ozzy’s Crazy Train, where a kid from the audience is playing his very special “guitar” (which has been built by nobody but Nina Yankovic, by the way).

For Estoy sendado aqui (orig. by Los Lobos), another fan comes on stage and needs to take the role of a tequila bottle. After praising Kevin Costner, another fan needs to eat food during a medley of Under Pressure and Let It Go. Overall, the set was entertaining and warmed up the fans to what lay ahead of them.
