Backstage Tour at the “Bigger & Weirder Tour” 2026 (Weird Al Yankovic, Savannah GA)

Two years of Bigger & Weirder are in the books. Weird Al Yankovic’s tour in 2025 and 2026 came to an end last Saturday, 17th October 2026. During the 90 shows held all over North America, Al and his crew gave fans a very special optional experience. Up to fifteen fans could buy the VIP Backstage package, which did not only include some special gifts (including a cool jacket) and a meet and greet after the show, but also the opportunity to explore parts of the backstage area and the stage before the show. I had that experience on 3rd June 2026 at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia. I felt that I should not tell the people too much before their experience – so that I decided to publish this post right after the tour has ended.

Enmarket Arena Savannah GA – Location & Traffic

Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia, is a rather modern, centrally located venue. It is just West of the historic part of the city. Apart from concerts, it is home of the Savannah Ghost Pirates (ECHL ice hockey) and Savannah Steel (women basketball UpShot League). From 2027 onward it will also host Indoor American Football. For concerts, it comes with a capacity of 9,500, while it can accommodate up to roughly 7,000 spectators for sports events.

Despite there are major parking lots around, I felt that the parking situation was difficult. One reason was that some spaces like the major parking garage behind the building and the parking lot opened rather late for people visiting the VIP experience. Parking fees are quite North American standard, i.e. they are absolutely ridiculously overpriced. I finally ended up parking at one of the privately owned parking spots around.

Weird Al Yankovic – Bigger & Weirder Tour – Backstage Impressions

The tour was held by Kamal, who is the touring photographer of Weird Al and does various other jobs before and during the concerts. The first stop had been a visit to the tour management office. This included meeting Melissa King, the tour manager (or “tour goddess”, which might be the more appropriate term). She was very open minded and replied to questions by the people, which – for me: luckily – was a rather small one at this show. Next we headed to the in-fact backstage area. I was amazed that you were not even able to see all the technical equipment, but even could see where Al and the band members redress during the show. Apart from being able to see all that stuff, Kamal also gave a lot of background and insights about the tour and its logistiics. Here and there you ran into band or crew members, who did their final preparations before the show.

Thereafter, we had a quick glimpse at (of course not: into) the three tour buses the band needs and had a brief look into the backstage hallways. Weird Al and the band even allowed a brief look into their catering area. Seeing all the people involved in the show – permanent and local – is quite impressing. You even got into topics like doing laundry during the tour. Thereafter, it was time for the highlight – stepping on the real stage. We had one wheelchair rider in our party – and Al’s crew was so sweet to put up ramps for her so that she can have the full experience as well.

On Stage

Being on stage where Weird Al and his band (as well as support act Puddles Pity Party) will be performing later was truly impressing. With all the musical equipment and instruments around, you felt that Weird Al’s touring had likely reached its peak in regards of logistics and complexity. You were able to explore the stage – and, of course, Kamal took his role as a photographer and made a souvenir snap of any fan participating. I had done quite a lot of VIPs, Meet & Greets and similar events on previous tours – but Al and the crew again gave back their fans quite a great value for money again. Thanks a lot for that – look forward to the next one.
