Weird Al Yankovic (31st May 2026, Alpharetta GA)

After 2025 already featured 75 shows of the Bigger & Weirder Tour, Weird Al Yankovic added 90 stages for the second leg in 2026. While I just saw two Las Vegas shows the year before, I have scheduled ten shows of it for 2026. Initially, I wanted to share some snaps here and there in my reduced concert report format, Looking back to…. However, already the set of pictures from my first 2026 show in Alpharetta in Greater Atlanta, Georgia, was so large that I decided to put them into a “full” concert report. On 31st May 2026, Al played at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre. The impressions of Puddles Pity Party supporting him, will follow later in the Looking back to… format.

This posting comes with 407 major size pictures as part of the concert gallery. Please note that these pictures have been done with my point and shoot camera (Canon G7 Mk2) and thus do not meet the standards of my professional gear reports.

Ameris Bank Amphitheatre – About The Venue

The Ameris Bank Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Amphitheatre) is a typical North American amphitheater venue, located in Alpharetta, Northeast of Atlanta. It is having a capacity of 12,000 people. 7,000 of those are fixed seats under the roof, which the uphill open air lawn in the rear of that can host additional 5,000 people. I will share some impressions of the venue in the Puddles Pity Party report.

You have to get to the venue by car, incl. rideshare. The traffic. The venue is not too far away from highway US-19. The traffic concept is quite smart, as there are three different parking zones with different access roads. Very conveniently, you receive a free parking ticket with each ticket order, which typically assigns a parking lot based on the ticket you purchased. I had Parking Lot A, which requires a very short uphill walk. The venue even runs a golf cart shuttle for that. People were very friendly. Also getting away from the venue after the show was absolutely quick, despite I did not hurry too much.

Weird Al Yankovic – About The Artist

If my personal situation is allowing, 2026 will give me my 50th concert of Weird Al Yankovic. He is one of the Featured Artists on Flyctory.com. Additionally, my favorite “Weird Al” song, Skipper Dan is a Song of my Life. Al was born on 23rd October 1959 in Lynwood in Greater Los Angeles. His surname already points to his Slovenian and Croatian descent. His career started with radio appearances on the regional Dr. Demento radio show. In December 1979, he released his debut single My Bologna, a parody of My Sharona by The Knack. Weird Al has released fourteen albums, which come with a mixture of parody songs, own writes and – typically – a polka mixtape alike track.

His last album, Mandatory Fun (2014) topped the US charts. In the 2020’s, there have been scattered single releases like the 2024 Polkamania. The only single topping a country’s chart was Eat It, a parody of Michael Jackson’s Beat It, which lead the Australian charts. On top of that, Yankovic is a five time Grammy Award winner. Briefly before the beginning of the 2026 tour, Al announced that a Broadway musical, current name Dare To Be Stupid (a 1985 release), is under development. The 2025 part of the Bigger & Weirder Tour had a total attendance of over half a million fans.

Weird Al Yankovic – The Show

The two hour show started around 20:30. As typical for the tour, Al started from the backstage area, walking through the audience during Tacky, while the band was already on stage. The Bigger & Weirder Tour features a “traditional” Weird Al show concept. For example, Another One Rides the Bus is shows on the screen, allowing the band to redress for Smells Like Nirvana. In other intermissions, there were snippets of Weird Al’s TV and movie appearances. After Dare To Be Stupid, there was a medley of Weird Al songs like Party in the CIAMy BolognaEat It, or Canadian.

It’s My World (And We’re All Living in It) and the Captain Underpants Theme Song reflected Al’s appearances in rather recent soundtracks. For Happy Together, Puddles came back on stage for a duet. The song thereafter was my favorite Skipper Dan. The regular setlist closed with White & Nerdy and Amish Paradise. At the encore, the audience put on their cell phone lights at We All Have Cell Phones, before The Saga Begins and Yoda (with the typical enhanced chant) closed the evening.

Weird Al Yankovic – My View

Despite I had seen the show about a year before already. I absolutely loved it. Especially the addition of the four touring band members, Probyn Gregory, Scheila Gonzales, Monique Donnelly and the energetic Payton Rose Velligan, add a lot of depth and value to the concert experience, driven by the excellent core band. The replacement keyboarder Richard Thoma did a very decent job as well. The tour is extremely professional – I loved the extremely good light for example, which allowed this concert report at all. It is amazing how much Al is still driving the masses, even though the last album release has been twelve years ago. A European tour is unlikely, but this production would definitely be a treat there as well.
