On my recent twelve Air France and KLM mileage run in January 2025, I also had one night in Malaga. Flying back from Malaga (AGP) to Paris (CDG) gave me the opportunity to to visit the airport’s business lounge. Like at most Spanish airports, the Sala VIP is driven by the national airport operator AENA. Here is my lounge review.

Sala VIP Malaga Airport (AGP) – Location & Access

The lounge is located at the beginning of the D gate area of Terminal 3, which is currently the by far most frequented one of Malaga Airport (AGP). After passing security and the duty free shop, you head to the right. The directions to the lounge are clearly given in the airport. Sala VIP is located on the upper floor. You can either reach it by a staircase or an elevator.

As the Sala VIP is the only lounge in Malaga, it is practically used by all major airlines for their premium and status customers. This also includes airlines like Etihad or British Airways, which serve Non-Schengen flights. For these flights, you need to do the passport control on the way to the gate after you visited the lounge. The lounge also accepts major lounge passes. You can also buy into the lounge. The current rate is 44.60 EUR.

Sala VIP Malaga Airport (AGP) – Atmosphere

After you pass the reception area, you step into the lounge. The first impression is: the lounge is huge. I found one information that the total capacity of it is over 380 passengers. There are multiple different seating areas. There is bistro-style seating as well as more cozy sofa options. On two sides, large windows are either allowing you to view to the runway or the terminal. One part is even allowing you to watch security control at the terminal. Close to the runway-overlooking windows, there is also a small area with relaxation seats. Some areas have a certain lack of power outlet supply. There are European-style power outlets as well as USB outlets in other places of the lounge.

Sala VIP Malaga Airport (AGP) – Food & Drink

There is a rather large buffet close to the reception desk. I have visited the Sala VIP at Malaga Airport (AGP) in the morning, so that there have been breakfast items available. There has been a rather wide selection of breads and sandwiches, but also fruit, yogurts, cereals and other items. A limited selection of warm dishes was available as well. Apart from hot drinks provided by coffee machines, most drinks are provided by large fridges. There is also a bar for alcoholic drinks, including wine and beers, which is serviced by lounge staff.

Sala VIP Malaga Airport (AGP) – Services

The lounge is coming with two sets of bathrooms, one behind the buffet and one at the rear side of the lounge. There are no showers the in the Sala VIP. As usual in most Spanish airport, internet via WiFi is provided by AENA. Unfortunately, the login is a bit of bothersome and requires and account. The speed and stability was fine during my visit, though. The staff in the lounge was friendly. However, despite there was not too much attendance, they had quite some problems with cleaning the lounge and the tables during my visit.

Sala VIP Malaga Airport (AGP) – My View

The sheer size of the Sala VIP at Malaga Airport (AGP) is impressing – even though it is the only lounge provider at this place. I like the diversity of seating options and its general design. The food selection is not overwhelming, but absolutely fine. On the negative side, there were some issues in cleaning and maintaining the lounge. Furthermore, I the typical WiFi login process at Spanish airports is bothering.
