As I am traveling to Sweden for the national floorball finals this weekend, I had to prepare my album reviews beforehand. Quite a shame, there were a couple of really interesting releases I did not receive as a promo this weekend. Similarly, the music market regarding single releases was really massive this week. Hope you like my list of new songs I really enjoyed.
Hanna Rautzenberg – Friends With My Demons
Hannah Rautzenberg is an alt-pop singer-songwriter from Leipzig, who is leading my Songs of the Week the first time. She recently announced a solo tour in early 2026, after some shows in summer this year. I really like her new release.
Amy Macdonald – Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?
This week, Amy Macdonald published her tour schedule for later 2025 and early 2026. With Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?, the Scottish artist might definitely boost the ticket sales for these dates. I really her new track.
Lauren Spencer Smith – If Karma Doesn’t Get You (I Will)
In my 24th January 2025 Songs of the Week, the Canadian artist Lauren Spencer Smith already lead my list of new releases. This time, she is at least sharing one of the most energetic songs of this post. A great song by the 2020 American Idol contestant.
Henry And The Waiter – Casanova
Henry and the Waiter is a solo pop artist, who is from the region around the German town Erfurt originally. His style reminds me of Milky Chance, who I featured in a November 2022 Spotlight interview. A really cool song with some spring and summer vibes.
Douwe Bob – Funny
The summer vibes even increase with this song, Funny by Douwe Bob. The song has nice flavors of folk, country and pop. A great release by the Dutch artist, who was born in 1992 in Amsterdam.
Nina Reh – Ryan In The Air
How could I skip this one? I am not that much into party schlager tracks, but the reference to low cost airlines was just too tempting. In fact Ryan In The Air is the debut single of Nina Reh. However, she is not unknown to the music scene at all. She is married to Matthias Distel, who is better known as Ikke Hüftgold in Germany and one of the key artists of the Mallorca party scene. Thus, this track has a lot of potential for some major success.
Jenice – Ich hasse Dich
A model and a schlager artist – Jenice (or, under her civil name, Franziska Czurratis) is definitely one of the most impressing and eye-catching artists of he genre. This week, she is releasing Ich hasse Dich (“I hate you”), which is comparably rocking.
Mike Krüger – Mein Auto denkt es kann denken
Just based on the groove, this song could have even made it to one of my country music selections. However, I felt that comedian Mike Krüger, who is doing humorous and ironic schlager-pop tracks since the mod 1970’s, is better suited in here. I really love that one. The title translates to “My car thinks that it is able to think” and has a quite funny view on all the electronic aids and intelligence in a nowadays vehicle.
Seiler und Speer – Bis uns daschlogn
This week, I introduced you to my list of most interesting festivals (majorly European ones) of the upcoming summer. On the top of my list for July 2025 is the open air by the Austrian pop-rock duo Seiler und Speer. They are going to play in Vienna in the national soccer stadium, including some really interesting support acts. This week, they released a new song. I really enjoyed the listen.
Sam Fender – Tyrants
The promotion platform, on which I majorly base this posting, names Tyrant an alternative track. To me, the release by the British artist Sam Fender is a rather straight pop-rock release. Label it however you want to – I like this one.
Michael Patrick Kelly – The One
Whenever there is a new song by US–Irish singer-songwriter Michael Patrick Kelly, there is a chance that you find it in here. The One is already his fourth appearance in this series of posts. And it somehow feels that it won’t be the last one as well.
Christian Steiffen – Du gehst niemals allein (11 Freunde)
I would typically not include covers like this one in my Songs of the Week. However, this German version of You never walk alone simply felt too tempting to pick. Christian Steiffen is a very interesting German artist from Greater Osnabrück, who is turning his schlager-style concerts into big parties. The artist name, by the way, sounds very similar to “You indeed get a boner”. I am sure there are at least positive feelings during this listen.
Daniel Aminati – Komplizin
Aachen-born Daniel Aminati is majorly known as a German TV host. However, he is also working as a dancer, actor – and musician. His new song Komplizin teases his upcoming album So viel mehr, which is scheduled for a release in summer 2025. It praises his wife Patrice.
Sophia – Träne
Träne means “tear” – and just in line with that, Sophia’s new single is melancholic and a bit of sad. Her first two albums were very successful – and this new release feels to suggest that her success story will continue.
Fidi Steinbeck – Endorphine
Fidi Steinbeck’s first (and so far: only) appearance in my Songs of the Week as of 12th August 2022. Now, I picked the Hamburg artist for the second time. She started to work on an album, which is planned to be released in 2026, together with a headliner tour.
Fannie – Loser
Fannie is a Swiss origin artist, who is nowadays living in Berlin. This week, she released the modern pop track Loser. A nice beat and a good groove define this track.
Bradley Simpson feat. Nieve Ella – Favourite Band
This song is a really nice British pop collaboration. Bradley Simpson released his Favourite Band as part of his 2025 album The Panic Years already. Now he is doing it as a duet with Nieve Ella. This definitely adds a nice touch to the track.
Dayseeker – Pale Moonlight
Some 250,000 streams on Spotify only after one day of the release of Pale Moonlight. This statistics illustrates that the Orange County-origin post-hardcore band Dayseeker is a really big gun in the music scene. And, indeed, the new song by the US-Americans is a real treat.
Sabaton – Templars
Being in Stockholm this weekend, what would be a better way to close this posting than with a Swedish band. The power metal giants Sabaton released Templars this week. By the way, they are from Falun, where one of the teams of the Swedish men’s floorball final is from as well.
