I currently try to enjoy summer with some relaxing trips within Germany. In later August 2026, there will be some international travels then again. Summer is also a key influence in the new songs released this week – hope you can enjoy the warmth better than I do… I already had some heat issues. The songs this week are definitely refreshing, though.
Druckluft – Amore & Goodbye
My Song of the Week this time is from my birthplace, the former German capital Bonn. Druckluft are a brass pop band, they are active since 2009. The project has originally been a school band, but is nowadays attracting a much wider audience. Their 2025 single release Karnevalsmaus even topped the German charts in early 2026. This one is another really cool track by the band.
Luner – Change
There are multiple major music acts in Europe with the name Luner. This one is from Southern Germany, driven by Andreas Zöller. His new song Change is a lovely, energetic pop-rock song. I really like it.
Beartooth – Eyes Closed
The hardest rocking track this week is Eyes Closed by Beartooth. The metalcore band from Columbus in Ohio in on the final straight for their new album Pure Ecstasy, which will be released on 28th August 2026. In September, they will kick off their European tour dates in Frankfurt, Germany.
Sector 5 – Middle Of You
Sector 5 is an alternative rock band from Berlin. The band consists of three brothers, Mika, Sami, and Onno van Hasselt, as well as female bassist Jules. A really nice and melodic track.
Joerg Strube – Where You Are
Joerg (or: Jörg) Strube – soccer fans might know this name. Born in 1971 in Herten in the German Ruhrgebiet, he played for 1. FC Cologne and Bayer Leverkusen‘s youth teams, has nine junior national team matches for Germany and 42 2nd Bundesliga matches for Rot-Weiss Essen, before he had to stop his career due to health issues. However, Strube can also sing – already in 2011, he released the song Let it be me. Where You Are is a lovely singer-songwriter track.
Clemens Maria Haas – Wohin Du gehst ich bin dabei
It already the second time I feature Clemens Maria Haas in my Songs of the Week this time. In my 17th April 2026 edition, I shared his Das Glück gepachtet. There are still some 1980’s vibes in the former Steinwolke singer, who nowadays lives in Italy.
The Bankes Brothers – Risk It All
The press kit describes the music by the Canadian artists as vintage rock. Indeed, the song has a lot of nostalgic feelings and leans towards rock’n’roll. I like it.
Ella – Silly Games
Silly Games is one of these songs where I struggled whether I put it in my Songs of the Week or rather in one of my country playlists. I finally went for this option. The song is in fact a debut single, Ella is a German artist from Hanover. Sounds very promising, doesn’t it?
Loi & David Puentez – Golden Summer
The German pop artist Loi from Mannheim kicked off Golden Summer, a track with definitive summer vibes, this week. For the song, she worked with German DJ and producer David Fuentes. One of my favorite songs this week.
Katseye – Animal
Katseye is a multi-national girl group, which has been formed in 2024 in Los Angeles. The ladies have been selected in the TV talent show The Debut: Dream Academy, which has been driven by US American and South Korean companies. Apart from US American and Korean background, there is also a Swiss member, Manon, and Sophia, who has Philippine descent. Animal is a modern pop song with strong vibes.
Chloe Qisha – Baby Girl
Baby Girl is already the third Chloe Qisha song I feature in my Songs of the Week. The Malaysian pop artist, who is nowadays based in London, closes my list of new releases with this cool, rhythmic modern song. Enjoy dancing to it.
