“One man, one camera, one guitar” – that’s about the idea of the current mission of Jim Kroft. The Berlin resident is not just a singer-songwriter, but is also recording movies. While traveling through China, Russia and Africa, he launched a series of EPsThe Isolation Diaries. There will be five sets of four songs each. I received the third one through a promotion agency and felt to share my thoughts with you. The Isolation Diaries Vol. 3 has been released on 30th September 2022.

Jim Kroft – About The Artist

Jim Kroft was born on 30th March 1979 in Brechin in Scotland, between Dundee and Aberdeen. The British artist started is artist career in London, but then moved with his band to Germany. 2010, three years after he settled in Berlin, he turned solo. Already his first songs had quite some success. Until now, Kroft has released four albums and six EPs (including the first two parts of The Isolation Diaries).

Jim Kroft – The Isolation Diaries Vol. 3 – Track by Track

The four track EP lasts 15 minutes.

1. You’re Gonna Be Someone

The first song of this short set is also the only song which has been released yet. The song is a folk-pop track, which is using guitar sounds, but also quite song string background. The arrangement and the voice leads to a very straight and personal atmosphere. Lovely listen.

2. One Foot in the Grave

One Foot in the Grave does not only sound darker, it also comes with a much more dramatic atmosphere. I love you the song is concentrating on Kroft’s voice, who is partially almost screaming into the microphone. Very intense listen.

3. Ain’t Moving My Sky

Strings, a piano and drum computer rhythm – this song has a very different touch again, even though it continues with a someone lamenting sound. Especially towards the second half of this track, Ain’t Moving My Sky creates more intense moment and almost feels a bit of jazzy to me.

4. I Haven’t Dreamed My Last (Version 2)

This song has already been the third track of the first EP of this The Isolation Dreams series. This version suits very nicely to the third set of songs. Not my favorite song in here, but another intense listen.

Jim Kroft – The Isolation Diaries Vol. 3 – My View

I haven’t been in touch with the first two episodes of this epic so far – but I really liked listening to the songs of The Isolation Diaries Vol. 3. The songs feel very straight, emotional and nicely tell a story. Not top notch (the EP might also be rather short in that regard, but much more than solid.
