Heading to a Jessica Lynn concert in nearby Phoenixville in December 2024, I was looking for a reasonable priced accommodation in Northeast Philadelphia. Also due to its proximity to a major mall, I finally opted for the Hampton Inn Philadelphia / King of Prussia. Here is my review.

 

Hampton Inn King of Prussia – Location

The Hampton Inn is located right next to the King of Prussia Mall and the Pennsylvania Turnpike / I-276. You also get there easily from the Schuylkill Expressway / I-75. Even though I felt that the mall has been a better one about a decade ago, it offers some nice services for travelers. The area also features grocery stores like a Walmart Supercenter. Right next to the hotel , there are some basic food options like a Panera Bread and a Burger King as well. You have to say that you hear the Interstate traffic noise from the hotel room, which may be disturbing.

The hotel is a typical hotel in the United States you very preferably reach by car. Parking is complimentary. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel though, which also connects to Norristown Transportation Center (by bus 99) and thus offers connection to the Philadelphia light rapid rail transport system.

 

Hampton Inn King of Prussia – Room

I had two nights at the Hampton Inn. The semi-flex rates for two nights, Thursday to Saturday, has been 225.97 USD, including all taxes. The room I got was rather large. It came with a fridge and a microwave oven. The assigned work desk did not work for me for a simple reason – there was no WiFi reception. I had to move to the area, which was rather thought for luggage. Apart from some power outlet issues, this worked fine, though. The large sofa has also been a nice feature of the living and sleeping area.

The bathroom was in a typical Hampton style, coming with a typical North American low bathtub with shower. Soap was given in pieces ,while there has been a body cream dispenser. The bathroom was rather clean, while the hotel room itself was a bit in line with the overall impression of the hotel – some maintenance would have made it more fancy.

 

Hampton Inn King of Prussia – Breakfast

The complimentary breakfast in the lobby area was typically rather popular, so that I did not take that many picture. On the first day, there were no egg dishes, which was quite confusing. There were warm biscuits, though. However, they have been served without gravy. I am not a big fan of the biscuit with gravy thing, but having them without a sauce felt really strange to me. The other dishes offered were in line with Hampton expectations. The second breakfast (featuring the typical cheese omelettes) worked out significantly better and felt better organized.

 

Hampton Inn King of Prussia – Service

The staff was overall very kind. In the building, there were some defunct machines, e.g. an ice cube dispenser next to the elevators. This just did not lead to a good impression. Some of the carpets in the hallways felt rather run down as well. As said, my work desk did not have a WiFi connection, but the other side of the large cupboard worked fine. The hotel is driving a gym, which overall felt fit for purpose.

 

Hampton Inn King of Prussia – My View

I feel that the Hampton Inn Philadelphia / King of Prussia could have left a stronger impression. Especially some maintenance work would have lead to a much better impression. The first morning breakfast felt weird. The stay was fine, but definitely in the rather bottom half of my stays in this Hilton brand in the United States.
