  • Wide range of songs
  • Strong first half of the album

I received the album Adult Child by Buick Audra rather early before its release on 13th June 2025. Due to my Six US States and Nashville trip during that time, I was very happy to have the opportunity to review the album rather early. Here are my thoughts.

Buick Audra – About The Artist

Buick Audra is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter. She released her debut album Rose Ink in 2006 already. Thereafter, she released Singer (2008), Family Album (2011), and Conversations With My Other Self (2022). She is also part of the melodic heavy duo Friendship Commander, who released their third album MASS in 2023.

Buick Audra – Adult Child – Track by Track

The nine track album lasts 28 minutes.

1. The Worst People Win

I am sure that the album might get some Explicit Lyrics buttons on the streaming platforms once it is published. Buick Audra is going for straight and clear messages in her songs. The nice rocker The Worst People Win is a good example for that. There are not too many bad words in this straight and melodic song, though. Especially the chorus is striking. Despite the somehow negative message, the song spreads some really nice and catching vibes.

2. Questions For The Gods Of Human Behavior

There are songs which make you smile and raise your interest already by reading the title. I was defininitely curious about the Questions For The Gods Of Human Behavior Buick Audra is having in this song. Find out by yourself – and enjoy a really nice pop rock track by the US-American artist.

3. Yellow

With statements like I hate myself, but that’s not what I really mean the third track Yellow is rather going into a deeper and melancholic direction. The song is a rather calm one and just has some anger and rock energy towards the end. The song comes with a very intimate ending as well.

4. One-Step Close-Up

The next song is the 4:39 minutes One-Step Close-Up. With that song, Adult Child is rather heading towards a rhythmic pop-rock style again. The chorus is very energetic and catching. Overall, the song is a slightly weaker than the tracks before, I feel, though.

5. Birthdays & Bullshit

Okay, these kind of song titles do attract me. Birthdays & Bullshit is a rather short one (2:19 minute), but the track impresses with its powerful indie-rock style. I really enjoy listening to this lady rocking – even though it is just a brief episode.

6. It All Belonged To Me

The last already released song of Adult Child is It All Belonged To Me. The first minute almost exclusively focuses on Buick Audra’s voice, before the drums and the bass become more present. The song is a fine, melodic one.

7. Losing My Courage

Losing My Courage is continuing with the style of the predecessor. However, this time, it is indeed solely Buick Audra’s voice and backing vocals. The song works. I would love to see how this one is working out at a concert of the female artist.

8. Firstborn

The instruments are back for Firstborn. The song has a some 25 minute strumming guitar intro before the high and fine voice of the artist is joining in. It gets more intense over time, but overall, it stays at that typical singer-songwriter arrangement. Nonetheless, it is a nice one.

9. A List

A List sounds like a voice recorder message. The 36 second track feels like an outro to Adult Child.

Buick Audra – Adult Child – My View

I really like Adult Child. Nonetheless, you have to state that the second half of the album is weaker. The nice range of songs and their presence lead to a nice catch, though.

Favorite Song: The Worst People Win
