The Mediterranen island Malta is becoming a more and more popular tourist destination. My wife and I had a brief visit in 2022. One of the places we went to is Spinola Bay, which is regarded to be one of the most picturesque bays of the island. I take you there in one of my Pictured Stories.
Spinola Bay – Location & Transport
Spinola Bay is a bay on the Northern side of Malta, at the town of San Giiljan. There are a couple of posher hotels around. For example, my wife and I stayed at the Hilton Malta, which is just a few steps away. The same area also hosts the Portomaso Casino.

The bus system in Malta is rather effective (even if it is sometimes a bit of confusing for foreigners). The bus stop Spinola is right at the end of the bay and is served by 17 bus lines, including night buses and the airport bus. There are also parking garages if you travel by car, e.g. at the casino.
Spinola Bay is surrounded by typical Maltese city buildings. However, there are lots of restaurants and bars around the bay, so that it is a lovely place to hang out, watch all the boats and enjoy the sun. The Love sign is right at the bus stop mentioned above.It is also worth to enjoy the scenery from one of the streets which are slightly above the bay. Especially on the North side of Spinola Bay, you can have a lovely, relaxed walk as well.
You will also run into some statues, boats fixed on the ground and other small things which are worth exploring. As you see on the pictures, there was a bit of rain before we went there. Nonetheless, it was a really relaxed time.
