Flyctory.com Pros

  • Best - and most mature Marie Reim album so far
  • Nice range of songs

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Some less strong (stereo)typical tracks

I featured schlager artist Marie Reim twice in album reviews already. In 2020, I shared my view of her debut album 14 Phasen, in 2022, I had a listen to Bist Du dafür bereit?. Both reviews were rather mixed. On 3rd January 2024, Reim released the album Sternzeichen Liebe (“Zodiac Sign Love”). I just had to have a deeper listen into it.

Marie Reim – About The Artist

Marie Reim was born on 8th May 2000 in Cologne, Germany. Both of her parents, her mother Michelle and her father Matthias Reim, are successful artists in the German music scene. Marie speaks Dutch, as she lived in the Netherlands for one year. Already at the age of 12, she had her first TV appearance, alongside her mother. Sternzeichen Liebe is her third album overall. Bist Du dafür bereit? peaked 23rd in the German album charts and stayed there for one week.

Marie Reim – Sternzeichen Liebe – Track by Track

The 13 song album lasts 42 minutes.

1. Du verdrehst die Welt in mir

The album starts with the ballad Du verdrehst die Welt in mir. The song feels very emotional, very mature. Yeah, it does come with the typical schlager kitsch, but overall, it is a very promising first track of her third album.

2. Heartbreak

Aus jedem Heartbreak geh’ ich stärker raus
Nach jedem Heartbreak seh’ ich heißer aus
Schau mich an, schau mich an, schau mich an, schau mich an
Ohne dich bin ich viel besser dran

(“I get stronger from every heatbreak,
I look hotter after every heartbreak,
Look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me,
I am better off without you”)

The second track is a typical schlager pop track, the beat is creating a strong dancing potential. The song comes with a lot energy and thus adds some positive thoughts about this record right at its beginning.

3. Die doch nicht

Marie Reim sees the new girlfriend of her ex – and thinks Die doch nicht (“Yet, not her”). This is the topic of the third song, which is again a typical schlager pop track with synth backgrounds. After two very good songs, the third track feels weaker. However, the song is intuitive, the strong rhythm leads to a good dance and party potential. Thus, it is not that bad.

4. Liebesfieber

Liebesfieber is another song, which has been published before the album. It spreads summer vibes and rather reminds of a beach party than of the snow we currently have in Germany. Undeniably, it is not too bad to have this kind of warmth in cold times. And the song adds a nice new flavor to Sternzeichen Liebe as well.

5. Ich mach heute blau

Marie Reim should rather not be an idol for other people – the title translates to I throw a sickie. The song is about a day which just does not feel to work out well. The lyrics frequently state Typisch Marie (“Typically Marie”) – this kind of self-irony turns this song to one of the funniest and most enjoyable tracks on her 2025 album.

6. Warum bist du so dumm?

“Why are you so dumb” is the translated title of the sixth track of the record. The guitars are significantly more present in this song. Marie Reim in 2025 feels to be more personal, more versatile and thus much better than in her previous album. The song has a nice sing-a-long potential as well. I am sure her fans will love it on upcoming shows.

7. Ich bin nicht wegen dir da

“I’m not here because of you” – the song is about personal struggle with a guy again. The style of the song feels a bit too arbitrary. Thus, it just does not manage to leave a mark – neither by its lyrics nor by the melody, which feels like too many other schlager tracks.

8. Naiv

With Naiv, Marie Reim competed in the German national pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö. She failed and finally placed sixth. The song has some interesting features, but finally it does not come with sufficient special or catching elements. The chorus feels like a typical ESC track as well. The fail was predictable – and even one year later, it is not one of the highlights of Sternzeichen Liebe.

9. Jemand träumt von dir (feat. Tim Peters)

“Somebody is dreaming of you” – this duet with German producer and schlager-pop artist Tim Peters has been the most successful track en route to Sternzeichen Liebe. Not just due to this song being a duet of two interesting artists, it is a special track on the album. Marie’s voice sounds quite a lot like her mother in here, doesn’t it? I like it.

10. Marilyn Monroe

There are quite some songs about unhappy connections and relationships on this record. However, there are also strong and positive messages, like this one. I really enjoy listening to Marie Reim, when she is singing with that kind of emotion. Thus, I can even neglect the comparison with Marilyn Monroe, the somehow unnecessary English lyric snippets and that some parts of the song too strongly remind of Can’t Get You Out Of My Head by Kylie Minogue.

11. Was wenn doch

There hasn’t been a (stereo)typical schlager track for a while – but Was wenn doch is closing that gap. Maybe it is a need by the (stereo)typical schlager listener, but I struggle with this kind of write, as I feel it is lacking to define character. At least, the eleventh song on Sternzeichen Liebe is having some nice and strong section, so that I overall even slightly like it.

12. Liebe rieselt auf unsere Haut

In the twelfth song “Love is trickling on our skin”, according to the title. The song is about a very romantic (and erotic) encounter. I feel that this song has more potential than it actually shows. The stanzas have a really nice and hot vibe.

13. Hallo, ich möcht’ gern wissen wie’s dir geht (feat. Matthias Reim)

You have to go back to the 1990’s to listen to the original of this song. Marie’s father Matthias Reim recorded the song as part of his Reim 3 album – and it is still one of his classics. For the chucker-out of Sternzeichen Liebe, the Reims are joining forces. Agin, there is this Michelle-feeling in Marie’s voice. But the song is just too good and it works perfectly as a duet. These guys almost force me to close the album with positive feelings.

Marie Reim – Sternzeichen Liebe – My View

Yeah, there are still some songs, which I am struggling with. And somehow, I miss the cheeky style of some previous songs like Weil das Mädels so machen. But hey, is turning 25 years old soon and needs to emancipate from teenage stories. And: she does it very well. Sternzeichen Liebe is definitely her most complete, most mature and most versatile album. An it still has some songs in stock which will please the typical schlager market. I like it. If Marie is taking another step like this for her next record, she will be close to the Olymp of Schlager.
