You can truly call Boppin’ B long runners of German music. This year, the band from Aschaffenburg in Northern Bavaria celebrates their 40th band anniversary. That’s quite a solid performance, ain’t it? Their new album released on 26th September 2025 is named Solid as a Rock. Let’s have a listen together.

 

Boppin’B – About The Artist

Boppin’ B is a rock’n’roll and 195ß’s style rockabilly band from Aschaffenburg in Germany. They started as a quartet in 1985. Nowadays, the band consists of seven members. Two of those, Golo Sturm (guitar) and Thomas Weiser (drums) are founding members of the band. The other ones are Michi Bock (vocals, guitar), Didi Beck (contrabass), Frank Seefeldt, Gregor Obermeier and Sven Garrecht (all saxophone). I featured Boppin’ B already with their most recent album. In 2022, Saxbomb received a Top Pick! award. In 2004, their special version of Sasha’s If You Believe stayed in the German charts for eight weeks, pedking 40th.

 

Boppin’B – Solid As A Rock – Track by Track

The fourteen song album lasts 45 minutes.

1. Thousand Times

Typically, Boppin’ B are very successful in cover songs. Their anniversary album does not contain a single one of them, though. Thousand Times is about a relationship, which has good times and bad times. The groove of the song is catching, though. Thus, the song is a very promising opener.

2. One More Drink

One More Drink – that sounds like a drinking song. And, indeed when Boppin’ B ask to give me one more drink and then I go, you simply long for a cold glass in your hand. The track combines the rockabilly sound of the band with ska elements. The vast saxophone lineup of the Germans feels to pay back perfectly in here.

3. High and Low

High and Low welcomes the listener with fast melody lines and some powerful guitar riffs. Later, the duet-style parts between Michi Bock and the backing vocals add a quite present element. The speed even increases in the energetic bridge. It’s a good listen.

4. A Real Long Haul

With A Real Long Haul, the German band presents a straight, nostalgic rock’n’roll track.  The song continues with a rather speedy recording, so that the just two minute track still feels coherent. Very well done!

5. Only One You

Right after A Real Long Haul, which is the shortest song of Solid as a Rock, Boppin’ B shares its longest one. Only One You feels more pop-ish then the songs before and also comes with swing elements. They don’t sound modern, but also not outdated. The instrumental solo parts are nice listens as well. The song alters its style, so that it is overall a really nice and not a lengthy or boring listen.

6. My 6120

My 6120 is the sixth track of the album. Again, the song creates rock’n’roll and rockabilly vibes. The playful and virtuos instrumental parts drive and boost the song. This track could be categized as a Southern rock one.

7. One Touch Too Much

One Touch Too Much is not just a smashing title, the song is catching from the very beginning. Maybe not the deepest lyrics the Germans have ever written – but the melodic part with very rhythmic vibes works out really well. And a basic chorus also means that you can easily sing to the words of the band. I like it!

8. Shake Everything!

At least this title (again) suggests that the part vibes stay high in this part of Solid as a Rock. Indeed, the structure of the song stays similar: the chorus is a great sing along. The stanzas, though, slow the song down a bit – so you can save some energy for your shakes during the chorus.

9. Big Bass Boogie

Boppin’ B just shared one song of the album beforehand – and it’s this one. The song has a new groove, even though it does come with some comparably stripped down parts. The band states That big bass boogie is gonna shake your bootie – and they are right. You simply have to move to the vibes of this song.

10. The Man from El Paso

I’m the man from El Paso the tenth song of the record states. The Texas vibes take a while to increase, but the party vibes are there from a very beginning. Solid as a Rock simply makes you feel good and enjoy the music. That’s what the band is doing in an excellent manner.

11. Gangster of Love

The Gangster of Love spreads a comparably dark and mysterious spirit. The song could be a, somehow zesty, part of a nostalgic movie’s soundtrack. This one is not attracting you to dance and move that much, but therefore spreads a really nice and laid back atmosphere.

12. Twisted

Let’s do the twist – or be Twisted. The twelfth song of the album is heading back to dancefloor vibes. A new kind of melody, but the rhythmic-groovy style signature of Boppin’ B does not alter in here. The brief sax instrumentals are a really cool element.

13. Are You Ready?

Typically, you ask Are You Ready? when you are kicking off something – Boppin’ B does it at the end of the album. Precisely, they are asking Are you read to rock and roll – and that’s what they are straightly delivering. If you like the classic sound of that genre, you will love the penultimate song of Solid as a Rock. 

14. What Do You Want?

The final question raised on Solid As A Rock is What do you want for me?. Thereafter, they state I will never be the one you want me to be. The chucker-out almost comes with some indie vibes. A strong message towards the end of the song.

Boppin’ B are simply fun. The tracks are made to relax, to party and to hang out with some good people. Here and there, Solid As A Rock delivers rather simple messages – but that’s finally what good times are about as well. This set of fourteen originals will definitely drive the band’s upcoming tour.
