  • Straight indie-rock album
  • Very entertaining and enjoyable sound
  • Some very catching parts

The closer you get to summer and vacation time, the easier it is for comparably minor acts to have a bit of the spotlight of the music industry. When I prepared for my music reviews as of 30th June 2023, I ran into German band Crown of Things, who released their album Louder Love on that weekend. Release date is Saturday, 1st July 2023. Let’s have a listen together.

Crown of Things – About The Artists

Crown of Things is an indie-rock trio from Bielefeld. The band is having their tenth band anniversary this year. Marcus Kleinheinrich is the guitarist of the band, Michael Witt is playing the bass. They are collaborating on the vocal side. Jonas Tonnat is the drummer. So far, Crown of Things has released one album, the 2017 release 2nd Life.

Crown of Things – Louder Love – Track by Track

The ten song album lasts 31 minutes.

1. The Need

The opening track is a roughly ninety second intro. Some guitar strumming to warm up the rock soul in you – nothing more.

2. Perfect Part

Right after this slow start, Perfect Part takes over a rather leading role in this album. Some cool bass grooves right at the beginning, followed by guitar power and rocking vocals. This song is indeed a powerful rocker. The indie groove and punk-ish riffs lead to a really cool listen – a wise selection to have this one as a single release.

3. Beat Me Out Of Me 2023

The album solely features one real single release. However, there are two re-recordings of songs, which the band already released in the past. The 2023 version of their Beat Me Out Of Me starts very powerful, but is also having a bit more relaxed moments in the stanzas. A nice listen, even though I prefer Perfect Part.

4. Hurricanes

The first part of Hurricanes is incredibly cool – it reminds me of some really major acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. With the chorus latest, however, the bass-present slow style is blown away by the chorus – three minutes of a quiet mood just might feel a bit too much.

5. I Want You To Know 2023

The fifth track of the album features the second re-recording, an update recording of I Want You To Know. The acoustic guitar-driven track feels like a blending between a ballad and a folk song. Constantly quiet moments for the very first time on Louder Love.

6. The Thrill

Bielefeld is rocking again! The song connects to the nice garage style of some of the songs before. And, as usual on this album, the rock power is significantly increased for the chorus. This time, the singer is almost screaming into the album, which leads to a nice catch.

7. Lost

The main theme of Lost may not be overwhelmingly creative, but it gets the job perfectly done. The song stays in your mind. The singing style in here strongly reminds me of the classic Californication – at least until that Crown of Things rock explosion is happening in the chorus.

8. How Low

How Low, how low, this is a one man show – the short excerpt of the lyrics iillustrates, how beautifully straight these guys write their lyrics. You simply enjoy listening. At this song, the bass is having a nice presence in the verses, while the chorus is driven by the six string.

9. Free

What does it mean? What does it mean? The second last song is pushing for rock again. Crown of Things deliver a great listen there again. I love it.

10. Louder Love

The melancholic title song is closing the album. Especially due to the impressing vocal performance, this song is another one which stays in your mind. Good job!

I will add the Spotify widget once the album has been published.

Crown of Things – Louder Love – My View

Louder Love might not come with the absolute top highlights of indie-rock – but it is a pretty cool power rock trio album. The three Germans define their sound and present it in different variations. The album is entertaining and enjoyable – and thus a really nice one.
