Hamburg was calling during my Six US States and Nashville trip in May and June 2025. However, it was not the million people metropolis in Germany, but a borough of Lexington in Kentucky. I was really curious about that stay, also because the Spark by Hilton Lexington Hamburg has been the first time I stayed at that Hilton brand in my life. Here is my review of the experience.

Spark by Hilton Lexington Hamburg – Location

The hotel is located right at the I-75. There are multiple other hotels, but also restaurants and other services around. Right across the main road, there is a commercial area including a Walmart Superstore. Further South, there is also the Hamburg Pavillion shopping mall with numerous stores, including Target.

The Spark by Hilton is rather a car hotel, like most US places. However, there is a public bus line, 10, which is serving the nearby Buena Vista Road.

Spark by Hilton Lexington Hamburg – Room

I had a one night stay from Saturday to Sunday in June 2025. I had a flexible rate of 97.10 USD, having booked the hotel rather briefly before the stay. I did not expect too much – the more, the room was a positive surprise. The room did not come with too much furniture, but it felt really large. I really liked the work desk, at which you could adjust the angle between the two section – very handy for working. There were sufficient power outlets in the room. The ones at the work desk also featured USB-A and USB-C sockets. On top of that, the room featured a fridge and a microwave oven.

There bathroom featured the sink in the first room and the toilet as well as the shower in the low bathtub in the second room. Again, it felt spacious and comfortable. I had no issues to place my toiletries into the room. The hotel is rather new, so that everything felt comfortable and well maintained. The room was also spotlessly clean.

Spark by Hilton Lexington Hamburg – Breakfast

Breakfast was served next to the reception desk. I liked the large windows, which gave a nice touch of daylight. The buffet was basic and did not include warm items. However, there was a large selection of bagels (no toast), packed muffins, fresh apple and a yogurt dispenser in the buffet room. I somehow got used (or: like) the convenience warm dishes in Hampton Hotels, but I was absolutely pleased with the breakfast as well.

Spark by Hilton Lexington Hamburg – Service

The staff has been very friendly and helpful. In contrast to other Hilton places, I haven’t been offered water at check-in, based on my Hilton Honors Diamond status. I did get high-speed WiFi for free, though. The hotel offers a gym as well as a swimming pool. The services in both were really nice, but in a typical range. However, in both cases, the area felt very spacious, which I really liked.

Spark by Hilton Lexington Hamburg – My View

In contrast to – for example – the Motto by Hilton Washington DC City Center, I really liked this budget stay concept by Hilton Hotels. The Spark by Hilton Lexington Hamburg has a nice location, the staff is great and the room felt perfect for me. Breakfast is a bit on the limited side – but compared to other Hilton places, this place was a real bargain. Thus, I would absolutely recommend it, if it suits your travel profile.
