Flyctory.com Pros

  • Five well done songs
  • Good lyrics and vocals

Flyctory.com Cons

  • The tracks have a certain lack of variety

Another debut EP on Flyctory.com: while I was checking the new releases as at 22nd January 2021, I ran into Matt Wyann. The Mid-Wester released his self-titled EP that day – I liked a quick scan of the five tracks – so I hope it will stand a deeper review as well.

Matt Wynn – About The Artist

Matt Wynn is originally from Flint Hill, a Western suburb of St. Louis. I unfortunately could not get too much bio about him – apart from that he moved to Nashville in order to pursue a career as an artist and a songwriter. His first release was the 2018 single Dust. In 2019, he released his second single, Dangerous. His debut EP Matt Wynn contains neither of these tracks.

Matt Wynn – Matt Wynn – Track by Track

The five song EP lasts 17 minutes.

1. Hometown Holy

Hometown Holy is just what you expect of a good Nashville production: an emotional love track with the characteristic references, powerful, well performed – and at the end, there is even a short Amazing Grace reference. I like it.

2. Any Angel

Individually, Any Angel is a good new country mainstream song as well. Unfortunately, I miss more contrast to the Hometown Holy before.

3. Drink, Drank, Drunk

There’s a recipe For good old boys like me passed around and handed down over the years.,.. Okay this recipe is quite alcoholic – but it also leads to a lovely country party song. Cheers!

4. Teach Me How To Live

Teach Me How To Live is a very powerful song again. Quite surprisingly regarding the title, the song is a breakup story. A good listen.

5. One Sip Ahead

The signature element of One Sip Ahead is for sure the strong rhythm. Thus, the song just makes you feel to dance and smile – which is never a really bad thing about music. Lovely way to finish this first showcase of Matt Wynn.

Matt Wynn – Matt Wynn – My View

The songs may be a bit too close to each other to turn Matt Wynn into a top notch country EP – but the Missouri singer-songrwiter definitely did a really decent debut. The songs are fun to listen to, come with good lyrics and with a great-to-listen-to voice. The first track, Hometown Holy and the party song Drink, Drank, Drunk are my personal favorites. Well done!
