  • Six very different songs
  • Very pleasant voice

Vilhelm Buchaus just received quite some popularity in Sweden, as he is joining the Melodifestivalen 2025, one of the best-reputed national song competitions in Europe. In parallel to that, he is releasing his debut EP Quiet Rooms. I had a listen to the 10th January 2025 and share my thoughts.

Vilhelm Buchaus – About The Artist

Vilhelm Buchaus is a Swedish artist, born on 29th September 2021. He is nowadays based in Stockholm. He started to release music in 2023 with the single First Cut. His sophomore release, Take Me To The Moon, was quite successful already, leading to 378k streams on Spotify only. In 2024, he started to release songs, which are part of Quiet Rooms. His Melodifestivalen entry, I’m Yours, has not been released yet and is also not part of this EP.

Vilhelm Buchaus – Quiet Rooms – Track by Track

The six track EP lasts 19 minutes

1. The Haze

Fur songs of Quiet Rooms have already been released. Only the opener The Haze and the closing song have not yet been shared. The Haze is a nice pop-rock track with a good melody and a nice rhythm. A good one, but not top notch.

2. Dying Light

Dying Light works with some more keyboard sounds and a bit of reverb. This leads to a stronger atmosphere and even a bit of an indie touch. The chorus comes with a nice melody and a lot of energy, which turns the song to a really pleasant listen.

3. Break My Heart Again

The four already released song of the EP all have a very different character. Break My Heart Again is an emotional ballad, just as the title suggests. The key focus is on Buchaus’ voice and the piano in the background, but there are backing vocals, which add a nice touch to the spirit of the track.

4. My Mistake

My Mistake welcomes the listener with a listener with stomping drums and a melodic lead from the guitar. The song rather leans into the rock genre. Again, there is a bit of an indie touch. The chorus feels like a good sing-a-long.

5. Snow in the Summer

Snow in the Summer? The song feels a bit of out date, regarding the song title (if you don’t live on the Southern hemisphere, at least), but it is a nice rock track. Buchaus’ voice is very present and powerful in this song, so that the track is catching you quickly. A good listen.-

6. Live Forever

The longest song of the EP is closing Quiet Rooms. The four minute slower song Live Forever thereby reminds of Break My Heart Again, but has a stronger melancholic touch. Furthermore, after the song is opened with the piano, there are also some other instrumental elements in here. I like the narrative, dramatic style of the chucker-out, which becomes very present towards its finish.

Vilhelm Buchaus – Quiet Rooms – My View

Vilhelm Buchaus presents a really nice and versatile debut album. Quiet Rooms comes with emotional songs as well as more energetic songs, which can drive concerts. I also simply enjoy listening to the Swedish artist and his stories. Definitely a promising longer listen at the beginning of his career.

Favorite Song: Snow in the Summer
