The 2025 Country To Country in Berlin took quite a lot of energy from me. On top of that, there was my trip to the Faroe Islands – Netherlands match – my debut in international handball. Maybe that’s why this selection of new releases contains some rather calm and pop-ish tracks.

 

Sons of the East – Rescue Me

Rescue Me will be the only feature single of SONS, the sophomore by the Australian band Sons of the East. The Sydney-based trio will also be heading for a world tour, which is going to be announced soon. A nice folk-pop track is leading my Songs of the Week this time.

 

Timsen feat. Ringlstetter – In de Provinz

Hans-Timm Timsen Hinrichsen became big as singer of the shanty-pop band Santiano. With his band, he has topped the German charts eight times. Now, he is also focusing on a solo career and already released some songs, including duets, recently. This week’s song is my favorite so far, featuring Munich comedian Hannes Ringlstetter. The song features his album Vun Hier (“From Here”), which will be released end of April.

 

Zoe Me – Voyage

I rarely feature French language songs in here. However, Voyage is a really chanson-pop track. Zoe Me will represent her home country Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel this year. Might be a magic moment at St. Jakobshalle.

 

Celine – Lana

Celine is a 2000-born German artist. She is a singer and rapper. Her new song Lana is an impressing and emotional track with a lot of memories. A song describing violence in the family, desperation and loss of hope. A really strong new song.

 

Vyka – One of Many

One of Many is the first single release of Vyka’s new EP, which will be published in mid-May 2025. The pop musician from Berlin presents a rhythmic track with a deep story. Nice one!

 

Unendlich – Wir sind unendlich

Unendlich (translating to “Eternal”) consisting of the siblings Manuel and Tatjana. I simply liked the easy, rhythmic style of the schlager song, which is coming with the (stereo)typical disco fox beat.

 

Charlien – Intensiv

Charlien is an Austrian artist, who is merging schlager and classic music. Thus, some of the melody lines of the songs feel very familiar. Nonetheless, there is the typical dance beat of the schlager genre. If Beethoven really ever have thought that his Für Elise could become this? I like it.

 

Dottie Anderson – So Much Worse

Her website is titled with Swedish Vampire, born at IKEA. I don’t hope she is really part of the furniture inventory, but Dottie Anderson released a nice modern pop track this week. So Much Worse teases her sophomore EP Nordic Machine, which will be released on 9th May.

 

Rever – First Love

Rever is an indie-rock band from Oberhausen in the German Ruhrgebiet. The voice of singer Christina Holderer feels being a really nice contrast to the rather heavy riffs from the guitar. Overall, this one is a lovely listen with a slight classic rock touch.

 

Bruchbude – Oasis & Taylor

Oasis und Taylor sind gleicher als man denkt (“Oasis and Taylor are more similar than you think”). The song is on the one hand praising the band Brechbude, on the other hand it also criticizes today’s music industry and current concert ticket prices. The band around the brother Finn and Jonas is based in Dortmund. Next week already, they will release their album Eigentlich perfekt, followed by a tour.

 

Chris de Sarandy – Body & Soul

Chris de Sarandy is a 1998-born British singer-songwriter, who is from South-West London. So far, he released one EP, Know Your Worth, released in 2023. A cool pop track with a nice grove.

 

Mangold – Perfekt

Mangold is simply the family name of the two brothers Hendrik and Lars Mangold. The song comes with nice Americana vibes and deals with the special connection between two humans. A great listen with a lovely melody.
