Visiting four US states in just a few minutes? The Four Corners Monument does give you the opportunity to do so. Due to the rectangular shape of their border in the middle of the desert, you can be in Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico at the same time. When my wife and I were in the area in late 2025, we just had to have a look. Here is my review of the experience.

Four Corners Monument – Location & Admission
Four Corners Monument is located in the Northeast of the Navajo Nation Reservation. You have to go there by car (or an organized tour). The very final road to the monument is from the Southeast (New Mexico) – you will, however, at least, visit one additional state (Colorado or Arizona) when you drive there. Getting there is quite a drive – it is some 220 miles getting there from Flagstaff AZ, 400 miles from Denver CO or 260 miles from Albuquerque (where we came from). The area is absolutely picturesque, we also visited Monument Valley on the same day, which is some 100 miles away. The routes to the monument are all paved and regular roads. Some seven miles away, there is a trading post selling groceries and gas. In general, services are limited in the area, so stay restocked and refueled sufficiently early.
The monument is open daily. However, it is closed on major national and on Navajo holidays. Times are 8:00 to 17:00. There is an entrance fee of 8 USD per person, which you pay by credit card at an reception booth. The area might also be attractive for a hike. However, you might run into rattlesnakes and scorpions in the area. There is sufficient parking around the monument.

Four Corners Monument – The Monument
The spot where the four borders in fact meet is a circular metal plate, which also gives the exact position of them and the four states, which meet at this place. Around that, there is a circular marking on the ground. The four states are given in large letters and the seal next to it. Visitors typically take pictures where each of their arms and legs touch different US states.

Around the inner part of the monument you walk up to the boots surrounding it. There are some benches, which allow you to enjoy the scenery in a shadowy location. Flags of the states, countries and nations involved. There are also some signs which give you additional information.

Four Corners Monument – Services
Around the monument, there are vending booths at which Native Americans sell souvenirs, majorly crafts, but also t-shirts and other items. We visited the place on 24th December 2025, so that most of the booths were not used. In peak season, though, they are majorly / completely used. Especially compared to places like Monument Valley, the prices are significantly lower. I liked the colorful and picturesque items. Credit card payments are – obviously – possible.

In peak season, there are also a couple of vending booths for food. Unfortunately, these were closed during my visit. There are fixed toilets as well as Porta-Johns close to the parking lots – which is also a very valuable service in this area.

Four Corners Monument – My View
I have been absolutely curious about this visit, just because I like this kind of somehow obscure places. It nicely suited our travel plans for that day. Vice versa, I would not visit the place if it creates a significant detour on your itinerary. It is nice and special, the stores are not that bad and the area is a natural beauty. But finally, it is just a simple place built around a geographical survey point.
