Are we the only ones? Or are there alien life forms on space? Science fiction movies have already given us multiple visions about good or bad visitors from outer space. When my wife and I have been in the U.S. Southwest in late 2025, we just could not say no to having a stop at a museum right about this topic. The UFO Experience in Scottsdale in Greater Phoenix tries to structure information about UFOs and their inhabitants. Or, how they say, The truth is out there. Here is my review.

 

UFO Experience – Location & Admission

UFO Experience is located at Arizona Boardwalk, an entertainment district in East Scottsdale / Phoenix. It hosts multiple attractions, some others are the OdySea Aquarium, the Butterfly Wonderland or the Pangea – Land of the Dinosaurs exhibition. Arizona Boardwalk is very conveniently located, as it is right next to the AZ-101 highway, which works like an orbiter around the metropolitan area. Parking there is free.

UFO Experience is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. If you book online, the ticket is fixed to a certain date. Including tax and processing fees, a single adult ticket is 30.28 USD at the time of writing. However, there are combo tickets, including the attractions listed above. Combining two, three or four of the attractions lead to a significantly smaller price. There were no lines during our visit during Christmas, but it may be significantly more busy on other days.

 

UFO Experience – The Visit

The concept of UFO Experience is quite nice and interactive. Entering the museum, you get three items: a vote card, a pen and a plastic coin. The vote card is rather for you. It does illustrate the different sections of the museum. After visiting a section, you are asked to answer questions like whether alien life has already influenced human development in the past. With the coin, you can leave a vote whether there is alien life at the end of your visit. The first section you visit, for example, reflects the influence of alien theory and alien characters to today pop cultures. This might feel like light entertainment, but other sections, e.g. discussing public UFO sightings or discussions in U.A. parliament.

The pictures majorly reflect my visit in chronological order. Once you are in, you can visit most attractions and exhibition without fixed order. However, the setup of the exhibition is a bit of confusing. I also liked the discussion whether there is or have been alien life on Earth already. Thereby, there are touchscreens and other spots made to dig deeper. You can even keep your kids entertained (if they don’t like the place at all), e.g. at an alien shooting game (which did not even work properly…) or a bouncer castle-alike room, which explains visitors the how gravity on the moon feels like. Unfortunately, the museum is rather dark, so that I could not take reasonable quality pictures all the time.

 

UFO Experience – Services

The staff was nice, but not too present in the exhibition itself. At the end of the visit, you – not too suprisingly – pass the gift shop. It does have some nice items – but I guess the topic would easily also drive a store as big as the whole museum.

 

UFO Experience – My View

I feel that the designers of UFO Experience in general put a lot of good thoughts into this place. However, it is not fully working out to me due to two reasons. First of all, it is the topic. There are very few facts and a lot of speculation and fiction. That even leads to an entertaining time – if there wasn’t the general layout of the place. It is very dark, signs are not ideal and thus, you quickly miss some party. The idea of voting whether you believe in aliens or not is a really nice one, though. Some exhibits like the focus Men in Black may be a bit too much.
