Due to the early departure of an ECE 451 ride from Frankfurt to Milan in September 2020, I looked for an accommodation close to Frankfurt Main Station. After I went for the Hampton by Hilton in the area on a previous trip, I tried out Fleming’s Express Hotel Frankfurt, which is in fact right at the Northern exit of the station. A really pleasing stay.

 

Fleming’s Express Frankfurt – Location

As said in the introduction, if you want to have a transfer hotel at the train station, you will hardly find a better option than the Fleming’s Express. There is a Steigenberger next door, which may save you some 20 meters of walk by simply crossing the road.

The area is multi-cultural. There are a lot of different cuisine restaurants around. Of course, the sex working (not during Covid-19) in the main station area is just a short walk away, but still sufficiently far away from the Fleming’s. On top, you may of course make use of the facilities in the train station when staying at the Fleming’s. There is unfortunately no major supermarket in the train station though. Not too surprisingly, local and national transport connections are excellent. The train ride to the airport is some 15 minutes.

 

Fleming’s Express Frankfurt – Rooms

I had a prepaid rate for a Superior Double room, incl. breakfast, for 74.25 EUR. The aisles of the hotel rather felt like a budget location, the room door was sealed to proof Covid-19 cleaning. Once in the room, I was amazed by the very comfortable size of the room – I honestly expected a more compact option. The layout of the room was very smart as well, including the funny table area. One feature I especially liked was the large area to but a suitcase on. The bed was also very nice and cozy.

The superior room category usually comes with free mini bar. Due to pandemic standards regarding room cleaning, you could have up to four drinks from the reception instead – which I felt to be a great substitute. The coffee / tea facility was fully equipped, though.

Compared to the room, the bathroom was rather compact, but it absolutely fulfilled my travel needs.

 

Fleming’s Express Frankfurt – Breakfast / Food

The hotel drives a huge restaurant in their basement – thus, there was no issue during breakfast times regarding social distancing. The breakfast performance was really good, they even had a live cooking station for egg dishes. Overall, the variety was really nice and the staff was really helpful and attentive – an overall very good start of the day.

In addition to that, the bar on the upper floor offered Italian snacks for hotel guests. I just read the menu and did not try out their food.

 

Fleming’s Express Frankfurt – Services

The staff at check-in in the evening and check-out in the morning was really friendly and helpful. I felt welcome from the very beginning. The room was absolutely clean, so that housekeeping also deserves the good rating. The WiFi was absolutely reliable in speed and connection. The hotel also drives a fitness area with sauna – which was closed due to Covid-19 during my stay.

 

Fleming’s Express Frankfurt – My View

Fleming’s Express Frankfurt is really a great stay right next to the Main Station. I absolutely enjoyed my night there – on top of the undeniable fact that this stay is really convenient for rail travelers (it is even a great location if you take the short rail hop to the airport). Great staff, good breakfast, spacious room – a really nice reasonable budget alternative. Top Pick!
