The last stay of our trip to Cyprus in October 2022 was at the Quality Lodge in Larnaca. my wife and I chose the hotel, which is branded as a Best Western Premier, to have a place not too far away from Larnaca Airport (LCA) and offers the opportunity to hang out and relax a bit. Here is my review of the hotel.

 

Quality Lodge Larnaca – Location

The hotel is located East of Central Larnaca, close to the shoreline. You reach city center by driving along the B3 coastal road. There are buses, but I feel that a rental car is in practice almost mandatory. We used the local car rental Astra during our trip. The area has still been under development during our visit. The surrounding area did not feature too many other hotels or touristic facilities like restaurants. As the hotel is not too far away from the A3 motorway, it is also a nice base to do excursions, e.g. to Southeast Cyprus.

The hotel features a large parking lot. However, sometimes there is nobody at the reception who is able to open the barrier to it. This was a bit of bothering. The roads, which are rather residential area style, give a bit of a challenge to find the hotel. There was no proper signage to the hotel during our stay.

 

Quality Lodge Larnaca – Room

My wife an I had a two day had a two night stay, Wednesday to Friday in early October 2022. The refundable rate was 304.20 EUR, including breakfast. The room was really large and had a suite-style layout. The living room was thereby kind of funny, as the large cupboard looked like as if the hotel was originally designed as an apartment hotel with full kitchens. However, the only typical kitchen appliances in the room were a water kettle and a really large fridge. Apart from that, I really enjoyed the cozy seating area with the large sofa. On top of that, the large balcony offered nice views of the area (including a brand-new Radisson hotel).

Compared to that spacious place, the sleeping room was surprisingly narrow. The aisles on the wings of the bed were quite challenging. The drawer next to the bed was a really nice storage space, though. Slippers and robes were provided. The bathroom had a hot water pre-heating switch from the “kitchen” side. The shower bathroom was really nice and worked out well. The hotel also provided a nice volume of amenities. The rooms featured a nice and handy number of power outlets.

 

Quality Lodge Larnaca – Breakfast

The Quality Lodge served breakfast at a buffet close to the pool. There were quite some fresh items and a good selection of dishes. If you love a hot breakfast, though, you should better opt for other places. The hotel was meant to drive a restaurant as well. This was closed during our visit.

 

Quality Lodge Larnaca – Pool / Gym

Without a doubt, the pool area is the heart of this Best Western Premier Collection. The pool is rather large, the area around it is nice. We really loved to hang out and sip a cold one from the pool bar. There is also a small gym. On the first night, the training tools were pushed into one corner of the room as this had been used for a seminar. Thus, the availability of a gym might not be fully reliable.

Quality Lodge Larnaca – Service

The hotel staff as such was nice, but there were some issues. First of all,the area below the sink in the “kitchen” area had this boxes. They contained slightly mouldy food remains, obviously from the previous (hopefully the very previous…) guests in this room. This already attracted ants to come into the room and is of course disgusting. The hotel staff was very sorry for that, but this one is a no-go.

The theory, the hotel directory is given via the hotel TV. Very obviously, the information given did not at all reflect the Quality Lodge in Cyprus. On the second picture, for example, you see a phone number staring with 351. I initially thought this to be a Portuguese number, but it might also be a Massachusetts one. Asking the hotel reception about it and showing them pictures, they insisted that this is correct information, which is of course ridiculous. None of the pictures and maps below reflects the hotel or its surroundings. The hotel has a nice playground and WiFi went well.

 

Quality Lodge Larnaca – My View

The area next to the sea and the new hotel have a lot of potential for a great stay. The pool is amazing, the staff is friendly. Housekeeping forgetting to check the closets, so that you already have ants in your room is of course unacceptable. The same applies to the hotel information screen which might be a “shit happens” thing, if the reception would have properly cared about it. If the Best Western is managing to handle issues like that better in the future and the area is developing a bit more, you might have a great time at the Quality Lodge. A review is a snapshot and the negative experiences have to significantly impact the rating this time, though.
