Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 17th May 2024)

Returning from the World Floorball Championships in Finland, heading directly to a business trip to Paris – this week was truly intense. I might have to reduce my posting frequency for a few days next year – but this, of course, does not impact my Songs of the Week update. Enjoy my feature of new releases as of 17th May 2024.

Lindsey Stirling – Evil Twin

This song is truly one of the most unique leading tracks I ever chose of my Songs of the Week. Lindsey Stirling, born on 21st September 1986 in Santa Ana, California, is a violinist. However, her songs are rather heading in the pop and rock direction. Her latest release, Evil Twin. even has an Orinetal touch. Great (almost) instrumental track. Her new album is expected mid of June 2024.

Jake Bugg – Zombieland

You might feel that the transition from a violinist to a rock’n’roll song is a bit of harsh. But due to the cool sound of Lindsey Sterling, I feel it works. The British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg is about to release his sixth studio album, which will be released in September. Cool, typical Brit rock sound.

Nothing More feat. David Draiman – Angel Song

Nothing More is an US American alternative rock act from San Antonio, Texas. For their new song Angel Song, they collaborated with David Draiman from Disturbed. At the end of June 2024, there will be a full album named Carnval.

Nada Surf – In Front of Me Now

Nada Surf released the song In Front of Me Now on Tuesday this week already. The alternative rockers from New York City are active since 1992. Two band members, Matthew Caws (vocals, guitar) and Daniel Lorca (bass) are founding members. The third part of the trio is drummer Ir Elliot. In November and December, they will be touring Europe. Great sound.

Bon Jovi – Living Proof

The countdown to the new Bon Jovi album is ticking down. The US-American rock band will release Forever on 7th June 2024. The melodic Living Proof is a really nice listening appetizer.

Marije – Miss Perfect

The name Marije already suggests that she is a Dutch artist. However, the pop-rock artist is nowadays based in Switzerland. Her new song Miss Perfect is a really cool listen.

Raketenumschau – Rosamunde Pilcher

The band Raketenumschau is an independent rock band from Munich. In their new song, they state Ich liebe Rosamunde Pilcher – “I love Rosamunde Pilcher” (a British author, who became very popular for her rather soupy movies). The song, however, is not that kitschy. Nice one.

Joshua Bassett – The Golden Years

There are quite a lot of US-American songs in my list this year. Joshua Bassett is one of them. The Golden Years will also be the title track of Bassett’s debut album. He is also active as an actor.

London Grammar – Kind Of Man

London Grammar are an indie-pop trio around Hannah Reid. They are based in Nottingham. So far, they released three albums and an EP, wich have been very popular in their home country, but also in other European markets. For example, their most recent album, the 2021 Californian Soul, topped the Swiss charts in parallel to the British ones. Nice sound.

A Certain Someone – Time Is On My Side

Rene Arbeithuber is the person behind the project A Certain Someone. The German musician and artist was born in London and is part of the band Slut as well. His new song has a lovely 1980’s synth pop touch.

Bernd Kieckhäben – Gib mir deine Hand

Bernd Kieckhäben states Gib mir deine Hand – “Give Me Your Hand”. The song is a lovely piano-driven ballad and one of the most emotional songs of my release picks this week. The German artist finished fifth at Deutschland sucht den Superstar (German version of the Idol series) in 2009. He is also a fully qualified hairdresser.

Christian Theiner – Musik du lebst

Christian Their is a schlager-pop artist from South Tyrol, the German-speaking part of Northern Italy. In his new track, he is singing in German and in Italian. Cool song.

Nikita Lev – We All Die Anyway

Nikita Lev is a US-American artist from New York, who will be releasing her debut EP in July. We Will Die Anyway is the melancholic second release of this publication. I really love her voice.

Claude – Parler Francais

With Claude, I feature another Dutch artist in my song selection this time. His song Parler Francais mixes English and French lyrics to a very modern pop track. A very catching new release.

Brofaction – Story To Tell

Brofaction is the project of the two Austrian brothers Nico and Laurin Greifer. Story To Tell is a pop song with some summer vibes. I feel these are urgently needed.

Bella X – Waste My Love

My final song is a typical drum’n’bass song, which is currently quite popular in mainstream radio. Bella X is a German pop singer-songwriter and DJane. Cool sound – her most popular song so far, Thunder, comes with over 15 million streams on Spotify only.
