Modern country from Bavaria? No, this is not about Nik Wallner, but about pez, who is singing in English and presenting his debut EP on 18th June 2021. The title is All Lowercase – just like his artist name. I ran into his music in a promotion platform and just had to share it with you.
pez – About The Artist
pez’s civil name is Peter Geyer. He was born on 16th December 1996 in Tirschenreuth Northeast of Nuremberg, close to the Czech border. He has been part of the world-famous Regensburger Domspatzen boys choir. After being part of some cover band, he started to go on stage as pez in 2017. His press kit is calling his music style a mixture of rock, country and pop – but in fact all of the songs on his debut EP are Modern Country songs – I just hate that German promotion companies simply don’t dare to name it that way.
pez – All Lowercase – Track by Track
The five song EP lasts 17 minutes.
1. Dreamer
Dreamer was the first song of this EP, which has been released as single. It is the track with the most traditional country song sound of all. The track is very autobiographic about this career as a country musician so far. A song which makes me smile.
2. Lighthouse
The longest song on the EP (4:17 minutes) comes with a really catchy melody and a nice blend between different guitar sounds and the clear vocals. There is even for a guitar solo. I really loved to listen to this one.
3. A Ride With You
I listened to a few second of A Ride With You – and I knew that this guy has to be covered on Flyctory.com. Yeah, there is that undeniable German accent in the vocals (which is maybe finally more characteristic than bothering) – but apart from that, the single release is a lovely straight modern country track.
4. Who I Am
Who I Am is some sort of the love story of the album. A bit of creepy, but a story which likely happens a thousand times each day in the sake of modern social media – I love the track:
I don’t know why I don’t catch on
I hope that you can hear this song
Even though you don’t know who I am
I don’t know why I lost my heart
My life takes place too far apart
It all because I chased your Instagram
but you don’t know who I am.
5. Enjoy The Silence
Doing the Depeche Mode classic in a bluegrass touch country version sounds weird – but pez does it – and he does it well! While listening to this track the first time, I still thought about the way the Brits did that track – but during my second listen, I was already deep into this Bavarian country style. Interesting musical challenge solved with great musical skill.

pez – All Lowercase – My View
This EP was a complete surprise to me – I have never heard of pez before. But I loved his music, I loved this EP. Music definitely worth listening – a deep recommendation! Great debut!
