The Sons of Daughters have been a Canadian country music duo, consisting of Jimmy Thow and Chrystal Leigh. Chrystal is now pursuing a solo career in alt-pop. Under the artist name OUDi, she is releasing her debut album Everybody Dies on 15th November 2024. Here is my review.
OUDi – About The Artist
OUDi is a US-American artist. Her artist name is based on her civil family name Oudijk, OUDi’s father was born in Rotterdam. Chrystal Leigh publishes songs under her new artist name since 2024. Nowadays, she is based in Nashville.
OUDi – Everybody Dies – Track by Track
The eight song album lasts 29 minutes.
1. Ending
Out of the eight tracks of OUDi’s debut album, six songs have already been released als singles beforehand. This also includes the opener Ending, which is also the longest song on Everybody Dies (5:14 minutes). The song is a slow, very personal track, which is overall a very intense listen. I really like it.
2. My Old Friend
With My Old Friend, Everybody Dies becomes more rhythmic and pop-ish. Nonetheless Chrystal Leigh keeps the very personal style of telling stories and the intense atmosphere. I really like the chorus in here.
3. Afraid of Flying
The third song of OUDi’s debut album is Afraid of Flying. The sonst feels massive and comes with a strong, scared elements. There are piano melodies as well as synth-pop elements.
4. From a Distance
From a Distance spreads a more positive spirit again. The song is very present and comes with a joyful hook. The rhythm is very present and leads to a fine listen. I really like this one.
5. RIP Summer
The melancholic RIP Summer has been a single release in late September 2024. The monotonous piano melody boosts the intense feelings transported by this track. One of the most impressing and touching songs out of the six already released tracks.
6. Everybody Dies
On 24th October 2024, the title track of the album, Everybody Dies, closed the campaign towards its release. The song feels very hymnic, OUDI’s voice is put on top of a dark, massive background arrangement, which leads to another very intense listen.
7. With or Without You
Even though this track has not yet been shared beforehand, you will quickly get into it. The song is a U2 cover. However, the US-American artists puts it into her own sphere and style. Thus, this track feels special and not cheap at all.
8. When I’m Down
The album closes with When I’m Down, which is a synth-pop / electro-pop track with a stomping rhythm. The groove of the song catches you and turns the song to a nice soundtrack for a dance. Another song by the artist from Nashville, which is having a very strong character.

OUDi – Everybody Dies – My View
It’s a bit of sad that this album in fact only features two new songs. But, it’s a debut one, so I am not that harsh with OUDi. I really like the wide range of songs on Everybody Dies. The songs have a strong character and a clear message. I also feel that they are really nicely arranged. Thumbs up for this one!
