When I reviewed the album now by the German rock band Fury in the Slaughterhouse in April 2021, it has been their first album release since 13 years. The Hanover-origin band did much quicker this time and shares Hope some two years after now. The exact release date is 28th July 2023. Here is my review.
Fury in the Slaughterhouse – About the Artists
Fury in the Slaughterhouse have been founded in 1986 in Hanover. Remarkably, four of the founding members, singer Kai Wingenfelder and his brother Thorsten, Christof Stein-Schneider (both guitar) and drummer Rainer Schumann are still active founding members. The band had a break-up in 2008, but re-united in 2017. now peaked second in the German charts. You can read some more bio about the band in that review.
Fury in the Slaughterhouse – Hope – Track by Track
The eleven track album lasts 39 minutes.
1. Don’t Give Up
There won’t be too many new tunes in the first half of the album for Fury fans. The band released the entire set of the first five songs already to mouth-water the souls of their followers. This obviously includes the opener, which is having a nice strumming folk-rock heart. Good listen, including the signature Fury sound.
2. Better Times Will Come
The album is called Hope, it opens with Don’t Give Up, the second track is Better Times Will Come. Feels like this one almost comes with esoteric qualities. However, the fast and rhythmic songs does not give you too many opportunities to listen to yourself and muse about your situation. Overall, the second song is weaker than the opener, though.
3. More Than A Friend
I just want you to know
You’re more than a friend
One thing before I go
You’re more than a friend
You are the guiding light
The saving shore
Believe me, that’s what friends are for
And you’re more than a friend
More than a friend
The third song is a fast, energetic, straight rocker. The song might have quite some ease, but overall, it is a really catching listen. Thus, it is my favorite song out of the five releases already shared with the Fury fans.
4. So Are You
The contrast between the predecessor and So Are You is quite a bit. So Are You is a slow song with some melancholy, which is nicely developing over the full runtime of 3:42 minutes. Very nice write by the German band.
5. Always Now
Always Now closes the section of already released tracks. This song might be right in the comfort zone of long-time Fury in the Slaughterhouse fans. The song could have easily made it to one of the band’s earlier recordings as well.
6. S.O.S.
S.O.S. proves that Fury can also do really nice dark, dirty harder rock songs. The band sounds comparably modern in this song. Having the Morse signals in the back is a cool idea. The show is the ideal showcase for the guitars.
7. Offline
Fury is showing a nice rage of different songs in this part of the album. Offline is having a cool groove, the vocals in the stanzas have just enough intervals not to remind of hip hop. Very nice sound.
8. Why Worry?
Why Worry? stays in your mind due to a very nicely written main guitar theme and some cool synth elements. Last, but not least, there is of course the signature voice of Kai Wingenfelder. It sounds like Fury and it makes you smile. That’s two key ingredients to a very enjoyable listen.
9. Island In The Sun
The ninth song is named Island In The Sun. However, there is no beach vibe, the song is rather a straight, rather gentle soft pop song about love.
10. Ghost In The City
I can’t relate that much to Ghost In The City. Nonetheless, the pop-ish elements with present rhythmic parts and spoken words parts add a nice flavor to the album. Apart from that, it feels almost needless to state that the chorus is on point.
11. Far Cry From Home / Who Am I
The dual-track finale with strumming folk parts and rather loud and very present rock parts are a lovely farewell to this 2023 album campaign. You just have to raise your beer and sing with the band… If you don’t do so, you will feel guilty – even if you are at home listening to a streaming platform.

Fury in the Slaughterhouse – Hope – My View
I absolutely liked now, I feel that Hope is even better. Fury in the Slaughterhouse are back – and they are a lot of fun. If you have the opportunity, visit these guys on their tour (I unfortunately just cannot make it). Very good sophomore album after finishing the hiatus.
