In early October 2024, I took a trip to Indonesia. The trip featured several staggered flights, optimized for cost and mileage return, so that my first night was right close to Belgrade Airport (BEG). I went for a budget-friendly option and went for the Airport Garni Hotel, South of the airport.
Airport Garni Hotel – Location
Th hotel is located in Surcin, a town right South of the airport. It is some 5km away from the airport’s terminal building. At first sight, the town does not feel too exciting, but the area is actually quite nice for a short transfer stay when flying Nikola Tesla Airport. There are some stores, including a pharmacy and a small grocery store. A small shopping and recreational area called Chinatown is some five minute walk away from the hotel and features a couple of restaurants, bars and other shopping opportunities. Not too surprising, Surcin also offers a couple of other airport hotel options.
There are public transport options (buses), which connect the hotel to the airport. However, the hotel offers a shuttle service (14 EUR one-way), which I felt being very convenient. There are also frequent buses towards the city center of Belgrade. The hotel also offers a parking facility if you arrive by car.
Airport Garni Hotel – Room
I had one night in October 2024, Wednesday to Friday. The flexible rate for the single room was 54.90 EUR, including breakfast. It is the smallest room category offered, they have much larger and posher options. The room was cozy, but rather compact. Still enough to sleep, work and refresh for the next flight. A bit of strange was that you had to put the cover on the bed’s blanket by yourself. On the positive side, there was the nice work desk and a really nicely filled minibar, which came with very fair pricing. I also liked the number and distribution of power outlets. The handle of the room door could use some maintenance, though. Apart from that, the room felt very well maintained, it had been renovated recently obviously.
The bathroom was rather nice as well. I would have loved having some additional space for my toiletries, though. Combined soap/shampoo/shower gel was given in dispensers at the sink and in the shower. Like in the whole room, the room was very clean. A sign asked not to eat and drink in the room, which I neglected – also due to the existence of the minibar. My room was on the ground floor. You reach other levels by a staircase, which may be bothering. with luggage.
Airport Garni Hotel- Breakfast
The breakfast area is located right next to the reception. Airport Garni Hotel serves a basic, but overall very nice breakfast buffet, given the size of the hotel, roughly 25 rooms. The quality was reasonable – but definitely better than you might receive in many other places for that price.
Airport Garni Hotel – Service
The staff at the hotel was very kind. The level of speaking English was good, also at the driver. The hotel offers free WiFi, which was more than sufficient for working and much better than in many German hotels, for example.
Airport Garni Hotel – My View
I feel that the value for money at the Airport Garni Hotel near Belgrade Airport (BEG) is excellent. You shouldn’t expect luxury – but you don’t pay a luxurious price as well. I was very pleased with the services provided.
