Swiss Cup Finals – Men Small Field – I.M. Davos-Klosters – UHC Oekingen 8-10 (4-3, 3-2, 1-5)

Oekingen again: the big name in Swiss small field floorball was also one of the teams in the Swiss Men Small Field Cup Final. After the women’s final, UHC Oekingen had another chance to go for the cup. They faced the Iron Marmots Davos-Klosters. Here is my match report.

This posting comes with a section of 504 major size pictures in the sports galleries.

I.M. Davos-Klosters – UHC Oekingen – Match Facts

After the interesting women’s final, the Mobiliar League Cup Final on the men’s small field side was even better. Fast, physical, but very fair and respectful, including some really interesting strategic elements. Thereby, Davos-Klosters felt having the momentum for the first two periods. Both were close, but the Iron Marmots could win both of them by one goal.

However, the last period was the time for Oekingen. The tied the score in the first ten minutes and even turned it into a two goal lead just minutes thereafter. When Davos pushed very early and partially played with four field players, Nicola Siegenthaler’s empty net goal in the 54th minute felt like the decider. The match stayed intense. However, another huge factor for the Oekingen double on that day in Kriens was Oekingen’s netminder Pascal Haab. He had a couple of great saves and thus killed his opponents’ hope to come back.
