The first show of my five concert trip with Weird Al Yankovic to Florida in October 2022 was in Melbourne on the East Coast. I finally opted to stay at the local Hampton Inn, also because there was no sensible / affordable venue around the theater, which could have been a better option. In these cases, I typically go for a Hilton Group hotel. Here is my review.

 

Hampton Inn Melbourne – Location

Hampton Inn Melbourne is located in the very West of Melbourne, right at the I-95. However, it is located not right at the Interstate or the main road there, so that the location is overall more quet as it may look alike at first glance when you check it out on the map. there is a bus stop at the main road, one for local traffic (bus 20) – the more interesting one is likely the one for Palmland bus services to Miami and Jacksonville.

New Haven Avenue, close to which the hotel is located, is a typical US-American road with commercial business on both sides. There is quite a focus on all kinds of automobile services, but there are also several hotels and some basic restaurants. For example, a building more or less next to the hotel is a Denny’s..

 

Hampton Inn Melbourne – Room

I had one night at the Hampton Inn Melbourne. The prepaid, non-refundable rate for the mid-October 2022 stay was 108.66 USD, including taxes. The aisles were not overwhelmingly clean, but the room was absolutely fine. I enjoyed the large size of the room as well as that it featured a new room design which is closer to the European Hampton by Hilton Hotels. One special feature is the large work desk, which you even have on both sides of the TV, coffee making and fridge unit.

The bathroom was a standard Hamptonn Inn design with bathtub. I typically really like these ones, as they provide you with a lot of space for your belongings. Like the room, the cleaning was perfect.

 

Hampton Inn Melbourne – Breakfast

I liked the small breakfast area next to the reception of the Hampton Inn. The breakfast service at this place was absolutely within expectation, but without having extra thrills or special services.

 

Hampton Inn Melbourne – Service

Check-in and check-out at the Hampton Inn Melbourne was really friendly. The hotel features a small gym and a typical North American hotel pool. Unfortunately, I had WiFi issues in the room. The space originally assigned as work space (i.e. on the right hand side of the TV), which also has a work desk light) had very poor WiFi reception, so that I had to move to the left hand side – with a rather better experience.

 

Hampton Inn Melbourne – My View

Staying at the Hampton Inn Melbourne was generally just what you expect of that brand: a solid, relaxed night for a very reasonable price. On the positive side, there was definitely the new room design and the very nice location – the key negative point were the WiFi issues. I would definitely book it again.
