Flyctory.com Pros

  • Very nice and individual indie-folk style
  • Very nice vocals and storytelling

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Just two new tracks

When Timbreroots worked on their second major release Heartbeat Chronicles, they were not sure whether it will head towards an EP or album. Finally, it became a set of seven tracks. I really liked its sound and give it a deeper listen. The release date of it is 25th April 2025.

Timbreroots – About The Artists

Timbreroots are an alternative folk and folk pop band from South Tyrol, the German speaking part of (Northern Italy). The band is a quintet. Two band members are brothers, Benedikt (vocals, guitar) and Philipp Sanoll (drums). The other members are Thomas Vicenzi (bass), Sebastian Willeit (banjo, guitar) and Simon Oberrauch (Piano). They are active since 2019. Four years later, they released their debut album Numen’s Dream.

Timbreroots – Heartbeat Chronicles – Track by Track

The seven track album lasts 28 minutes.

1. My Own Bubble

If you are a fan of the Northern Italian quintet, you might be a bit bored of the first five tracks of the … I will call it an EP in here. However, some 35k streams for this song on Spotify (at the time of writing) suggest that there are many new listeners to Timbreroots as well. For these, the opener offers a fine folk track with a pop-ish touch. The most striking element is singer Benedikt Sanoll, who is also the sole author of all songs of this release.

2. Madness

While My Own Bubble gave an easy entry into Heartbeat Chronicles, the second track Madness feels more complex. The music has more levels and styles, the vocal style is more dramatic. For the chorus, the energy feels to break out Benedikt Sanoll and his band mates. The bridge, however, is rather dreaming and fine. Overall, the song is a very interesting, versatile listen. To me, it is one of the core songs of the release.

3. Colorful Timbres

If you look at Spotify streams only, Colorful Timbres is the most successful of the five songs already released. Timbreroots present a slow and gentle song, which is having a lovely atmosphere. However, in the second half of it, there is a some more powerful and virtuous instrumental part.

4. There’s Still Light

With almost five minutes, There’s Still Light is the longest track of the release. The style of the song is similar to the ones before. There is a mixture of rather slow and intimate and sudden changes to significantly more energizing parts. Still the song works as a whole and feels like a fluent listen. That’s finally good songwriting.

5. Different Light

Different Light is not only the last previously released song on the album, it is also the latest of those songs. A good rhythm and a nice melody define this song. Even the slower parts come with a nice sway.

6. The Tune We Hum

The first in fact new song is The Tune We Hum. The song starts with a nice melody from the very beginning. The indie-folk elements create a warm atmosphere. A beautiful four minute listen.

7. Heartbeat

The ultimate song, which also somehow gave the album its name, is Heartbeat. After the lovely vocals of Benedikt Sanoll have been in focus of the songs before, this one is purely instrumental. Thus, it is not only a beautiful fade out of the album, but also a proof of the instrumental qualities of Timreroots.

Timbreroots – Heartbeat Chronicles – My View

First of all, you might expect me to criticize that the release just comes with seven songs. However, the download price is in line with an EP, so that I feel it is an absolutely fair deal. I would have loved to have one or two more unreleased songs, though. Apart from that, Heartbeat Chronicles is a really beautiful listen. Benedikt Sanoll is a gem on the microphone – and the band is working just in line with that.
