Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 25th October 2024)

Just two months until Christmas. Times are getting colder (at least on the Northern hemisphere), people spend more time inside. I can into a lot of Best of and compilation albums this week. Nonetheless, there are also quite a bunch of fine new single releases. Here are my favorites this week.

Amira Elfeky – Will You Love Me When I’m Dead

I just happened to spot this one in a merged set of songs, in which major music labels promote their “remaining” new releases of songs. In fact, this alternative metal song by the young Connecticut artist, now based in Los Angeles, simply caught me the most this week. She is already booked for the two major German festivals, Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, in 2025. Sounds like fun for metal fans.

The Rasmus – Rest in Pieces

The Rasmus recently announced the dates of their Weirdo Tour in 2025. The Finnish alternative rock band will definitely boost ticket sales (even more) with this new release – a great new track.

Sotiria – Schwarzer Diamant

Is that schlager? Or dark rock? The German artist from Berlin is doing a rather unique blending of very different sounds. She was the lead singer of the band Eisblume, who had two successful albums around 2010 in Germany. Great song.

Bruchbude – Anders bin ich als Du

Finn & Jonas changed their artist name to Bruchbude (which means something like ramshackle hut). The duo from Dortmund is doing pop music with straight lyrics. I really like their new song release.

Hanna Rautzenberg – Halloween

Hanna Rautzenberg is a young German artist in her late teenage years. How could a song about Halloween not be included in this week’s Songs of the Week? Of course, it also a cool pop track by the artist from Leipzig.

Julia Meladin x Basti Stein – Bad Times & Sad Vibes

Two young German artist join forces for this modern pop song. Julia Meladin and Basti Stein are singing about relationship issues. A very rhythmic and catching listen.

Mara Zeifya – Wrong to Love You

There are quite a lot of German artists in my song selection this week. One of them is Mara Zeifya. The Dusseldorf artist released this international-style pop track. Nice one.

Nanett Weiss – Alles was ich will

Nanett Weiss is already very successful as a saxophone player, being on stage with several major German acts. Also in her debut solo single Alles was ich will (all that I want) she just cannot do without her instrument. And that’s great! A schlager track with a very characteristic touch. Cool one!

Tiffany Aris – Hero

Tiffany Aris is a Hamburg-originartist, who is nowadays living in Berlin. She was already really successful in songwriting. However, her solo music is worth a listen as well – as Hero is illustrating.

Nathan Evans – Perfect Storm

A diamond record in Germany, double platinum on his domestic United Kingdom – the Wellerman changed the career of Scottish artist Nathan Evans. Even though none of his song releases could connect to this track, which topped the charts in many European markets – he is doing really lovely music. Another proof for that is his this week’s single release.

Björn Dixgard – Fear of Winning

I am sure you know this voice – Björn Dixgard is the lead singer of the Swedish rock band Mando Diao. The artist, who is nowadays living in Borlänge, is about to release his solo debut album Shadowlands. The single release Fear of Winning is really promising.

Rolf Frey – Hear My Prayer

The music of German artist Rolf Frey is inspired by the works of Elvis Presley. However, he is doing a really own style. Hear My Prayer is a very characteristic song with a lovely melody.

Michael Lane – Live Free

Michael Lane does what he can do best this week (again) – a beautiful, emotional and fine song with lovely lyrics. I really enjoyed his new song Live Free released this week.

Gregory Porter – We Have All The Time In The World

What about some jazz at the end? Gregory Porter released this song in the Cam Blackwood & Swindle Version this week, spreading some Christmas vibes in late October 2024. You feel that song is somehow familiar to you? Then you might be a James Bond fan – the original has been interpreted by Louis Armstrong and used in one of the movies.
