Flyctory.com Pros

  • Great location and good connection
  • Nice services
  • Good Executive Lounge
  • Nice suite room (at one stay)

I typically prefer Hilton Hotels and my second-most flown airport so far is Frankfurt Airport (FRA). Thus, it feels quite surprising that I haven’t introduced you to Hilton’s flagship at the airport yet. In fact, this review is based on two separate stays I had at the hotel, which is directly linked to the terminal. Here is my review.

Hilton Frankfurt Airport – Location

Hilton Frankfurt Airport is located in the Squaire, a shopping and recreation district right on top of Frankfurt Airport long-distance rail station. The Hilton is right adjacent to its sister hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport. In fact, it shares few faculties. The hotel is linked through a fully covered passenger bridge with Terminal 1. You need to take a free shuttle bus to Terminal 2, though. I like the Squaire, as it also hosts a supermarket and some other basic stores and restaurants. Of course, you can also easily use the landside facilities of Frankfurt (FRA) Terminal 1.

Regarding getting to the hotel, the easiest way is to take the train. If you take an ICE high speed train, it is just a very short walk and some escalators up to the Hilton Frankfurt Airport. However, you may of course also go there by car. The Squaire itself does have a major parking garage – but alternatively, you may of course also go for any airport parking. If you pre-book airport parking, you typically get a better deal. Last, but not least, you may arrive by plane (obviously…), as it is an airport hotel… Rail travel time to Frankfurt city center is roughly ten to fifteen minutes.

Hilton Frankfurt Airport – Room

My review is based on two stays in the hotel. In both cases, I booked a King Room in both cases, but in the first stay I was gifted to have a one bedroom suite The living and working area was very spacous, coming with a sofa and two chairs. The work desk at one wall of a room also had international power plugs (USA and U.K. style). Next to this area, there has been even a separate guest toilet.

The bedroom also had a very nice size and and additional TV. There were additional storage spaces, so that you could easily store your items. Next to the bedroom, there you pass another clothes cupboard when you enter the ensuite bathroom. Again, there was quite some space and a separate bathtub. Typical amenities were provided as well. In both stays, the hotel and the room felt very well maintained and cleaned.

Standard King Room

There was no major upgrade on my second stay, apart from being on the Executive Floor. The room was obviously significantly smaller and had no split into different rooms. It might be tricky if you travel with a lot of luggage, but it worked well for the trip my wife and I were ahead of. Nonetheless, I liked that room as well. I am overall not the biggest fan of glass work desks, though. Again, there was a nice number of power outlets available. The bathroom has been more narrow, but also came with a separate bathtub and equivalent amenities.

Hilton Frankfurt Airport – Executive Lounge

The Exectuve Lounge is located on the 10th floor, which is also the upper floor for executive rooms. The lounge is really large and offers different kids of seating, which leads to a very relaxed atmosphere. Even during the happy hour, the lounge does not feel over-crowded. During one of my visits, they ha da bit of issues to refill the food in the buffet, but it overall feels better in there than in many other Hilton lounges I visited.

Hilton Frankfurt Airport – Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor. During both stays, I was quite happy with the service provided. However, the place may be rather crowded. This is also caused by the opening time of 6:00, which leads to several people wanting to have breakfast very early, majorly heading to US flights thereafter. There is a nice selection of warm and cold dishes as well as a good bread selection. At one of the stays, the room was really packed and we explored some service delays.

Hilton Frankfurt Airport – Service

Typically, you stay in a Frankfurt Airport hotel for one night, either right before or right after a flight. So why should you prefer the Hilton over the (typically slightly cheaper) Hilton Garden Inn? The service and the staff gives you the answer. The Hilton people are just lovely, the give you a much more personal welcome and you simply enjoy staying there. The neighboring Hilton Garden Inn is typically a bit more hectic (but also friendly). WiFi worked very fine as well. If you have a room close to the other hotel, you should be careful that you log into the right WiFi though. The 11th floor gym is available to guests of both hotels – definitely a nice place. It also features a sauna and steam room.

Hilton Frankfurt Airport – My View

The Hilton Frankfurt Airport is definitely a very good airport hotel. However, if you know the Hilton Munich, there is still quite a difference in the two hotels of the same brand in the same country. Nonetheless, the staff does great to make you feel welcome in their hotel and the faciltiies are good. I definitely love staying at this Hilton Hotel.
