Visiting the SC Classic vs. JYMY Men F-Liiga match in November 2025 also gave me another floorball highlight. I had the opportunity to visit the Salibandymuseo, the (Finnish) Floorball Museum. It is likely the only place of its kind of the world. For those of you who don’t make it to the Tampere region regularly, I am very happy sharing my impressions.

Salibandymuseo – Location & Admission

The museum is located in Ideapark, a large shopping mall in Lempälää, a city South of Tampere. Apart from stores of all kind, the mall hosts Bläk Boks, the home venue of SC Classic. The museum is located in the corner of the arena, right next to the rink. The interactive screens in the mall tell you the locations. There is also a sign in front of Bläk Boks, which is telling you the route to the sports museum.

Admission to the museum is free. It is open in line with the mall opening hours. This means, you can visit the museum Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 to 21:00, Saturdays 9:00 to 20:00 and Sundays 11:00 to 19:00. Please note that during SC Classic matchdays and other events, access may be restricted. You can visit the museum right before the match or during the intermissions of the match as well. In that case, SC Classic may use the room for parts of their matchday organization, though.

Salibandymuseo – The Visit

The Salibandymuseo is in fact one major room. When you enter, your first view is likely on the large glass cabinet on the right. It hosts a lot of floorball memorabilia, including cups, but also sticks, shoes and other equipment. There are even some historic accreditations. Pictures honor the biggest success stories, especially at World Floorball Championships. Obviously the Finnish Floorball Museum concentrates on salibandy in Finland and the Finnish National Teams. I also liked that they had a certain focus on floorball referees. There is also a smaller showcase, which felt to focus on certain players. The box in the middle of the room also included some original medals.

The rear wall ilustrates the development of the sports in Finland. There are some newspaper articles and old pictures, which are reviving valuable memories. Of course, the articles are in Finnish, so that you either need to use a translator or are a bit of stuck if you do not happen to speak the local language. A very interesting part is the Finnish Floorball Hall of Fame. There don’t seem to be too many recent inductees, but it does include some real legends like Janne Tähkä or Nina Rantanen (Rantala). It is cool to browse through personalities who impacted the sports that much.

Salibandymuseo – Services

All services are provided by the mall. This includes food and bathrooms. During matchdays, you can of course also use the SC Classic facilities, including their souvenir store.

Salibandymuseo – My View

Of course, visiting the Finnish Floorball Museum is a very emotional and special experience to me. There are so many memories linked to Finnish floorball to me, the country gave me wonderful friends. If you are into floorball, you will feel the same magic. If you are not into the sports that much, it is still a short, interesting and free entrance visit.
