As part of a business trip to Paris, I had two nights in the Le Belgrand Hotel Paris Champs Elysees. The hotel is a quite traditional place, but has just recently joined the Hilton franchise. As it also perfectly located to our offices, it has been an easy choice. The stay was during the French Open in tennis and a popular traveling week (public holiday in France, Germany and some other countries), so that the hotel price might be above the average price range. Here is my review.
Le Belgrand Hotel Paris – Location
The location of the hotel is really nice. It is just a few minutes away from the Arc de Triomphe and the Avenue de Champs-Elysees. You also have a very nice connection by public transport. Either, you walk to the iconic triumph arch, where there are multiple metro and bus lines and the RER or go for the more relaxed option and enter the metro at Kleber (line 6) or Victor Hugo (line 2). I don’t give any recommendation about going to Paris by car as I feel that it is ridiculous as a foreigner.
The area is really nice. Apart from the tourist attractions mentioned, there is a nice range of restaurants. There is also a tiny basic supermarket near the hotel. The area is also quite nice to have a walk to the Eiffel Tower, for example.
I visited the hotel as part of a business trip. Thus, travel expenses have been reimbursed by my employer. This did not affect my judgement on the hotel.
Le Belgrand Hotel Paris – Room
I booked a Queen Deluxe Room at a flexible rate (one day cancellation) of 611.86 EUR. I received an upgrade, I guess to a King Deluxe Room. The rate did not include breakfast, but I receive free breakfast as a Hilton Honors Diamond member. The room was in a building in the backyard, which is, of course, here and there bothering in case of rain, but the patio was a real beauty, so that I really enjoyed that.
My room was located on the ground floor of that rear building. It was not overwhelmingly large – but hotel rooms in these area are typically either very narrow or a hell of expansive. I liked the design of the room, even though there were quite a bunch of mirrors on the walls and on the door. A nice feature of the room was the fridge in a drawer next to the bed. There was no proper work desk, which I did not like too much. Overall, the room had a really nice boutique style.
Even though the bathroom felt to be narrow at first sight, it was actually quite large and very nicely designed, using the available space of the building. The shower was really large, I had sufficient space for my large toiletery bag, so that I have been really happy with it. Like the whole room, the bathroom was very clean and felt very modern.
Le Belgrand Hotel Paris – Breakfast
I would say that the breakfast served at the La Begrand Hotel is a typically French one: the items in selection had a really good quality (without any exception), the selection was rather limited. French people just don’t start the day with too much of these things. There was lovely smoked salmon and cold cuts, for example. Hot drinks were brought to the table by the hotel staff. You may also use the patio for breakfast, which is really lovely.
Le Belgrand Hotel Paris – Service
The staff was extraordinarily nice. One experience I did not have like in Paris so far was that even the housekeeping spoke very good, practically accent-free English. There was free WiFi, which was not perfect, but worked fine. The Le Belgrand does not offer any premium WiFi. Housekeeping was very good as well.
Le Belgrand Hotel Paris – My View
Paris hotel prices always give me some sort of bad feeling, but if you just accept the price level, the Le Belgrand did a really good performance.
