  • Lovely melodies with a nice range of musical influences
  • Very good storytelling

Folk music with an international touch: The female artist Bedouine shared her 2026 album Neon Summer Skin on 5th June 2026. I had the opportunity to have an earlier listen and thus felt I had to do my review of it.

Bedouine – About The Artist

Bedouine is the stage name of Azniv Korkejian. The Syrian-US American musician was born in Aleppo, Syria, but also lived in Saudia Arabia. Nowadays, she is based in he USA. The singer-songwriter has released three albums so far, the last one being the 2021 Waysides.

Bedouine – Neon Summer Skin – Track by Track

The eleven song album lasts 52 minutes.

1. On My Own

The first three songs of Neon Summer Skin are the three songs shared before album release. The first song, On My Own, is a slow, very reflective and a bit of melancholic piano-driven song. Korkejian’s voice comes with a certain warmth. Here and there, the artist is adding dramatic elements to this 6:31 minute listen, which overall feels rather harmonic in its melody.

2. Long Way To Fall

Strings kick off the second song, Long Way To Fall. Korkejian’s voice is joining in soon and is immediately in focus of the listener. The song feels catching due to its storytelling. A really nice one.

3. Always On Time

At Always on Time, the vocals are dominant at the beginning. There are still a lot of break and scattered piano chords. Later in the track, other instruments are joining. the slow waltz-alike rhythm leads to a nice flow. The instrumental sections in later parks feel very striking, but also rather feel like classical music.

4. One Thing Right

After rather calm songs at the beginning, One Thing Right feels surprisingly rhythmic. I like the way Bedouine is playing with different musical element. In one moment, the song has a folk-pop touch, before it soon thereafter rather leans towards lounge music and jazz. Instruments like the flute add a nice touch as well.

5. Neon Summer Skin

Here is the the title track. With a strumming guitar and her fine warm voice, Bedouine is again presenting a calm folk track with a strong atmosphere. I like the fragile, unagitated signature of this song.

6. Canopies (Intro)

So far, the tracks have been rather long, in the range of four to more than six minutes. This one, however, is just a 31 second listen, which is presenting a verbal discussion leading to Canopies.

7. Canopies

The dedicated intro track already makes Canopies a special listen. The song itself just lasts three minutes, but is a lovely folk song, which definitely leaves a mark. This time, there are organ and keys elements, which add something new to the album. The discussion started in the intro (in Syrian language) are appearaing in the song again.

8. Deghma Cheega

You can feel the familiar roots of Bedoine in this album. In Deghma, they are very even more obvious as she is singing in her native language. The song feels playful. Later parts even have some whistling parts. With a wide range of backing instruments and its groove, the song has a jazzy touch.

9. Na Na Na

Na Na Na switches back to English lyrics. It’s another song which catches you with harmony, a nice flow and surprising elements. Listening to the Syrian-American artist feels so pleasant. I appreciate the listen, definitely. During its almost five minutes, the ninth track is more and more taking you into its own musical sphere.

10. White Patent Leather

White Patton is the penultimate song of Neon Summer Skin. The song again profits from its rich instrumental arrangement, while the chorus has a lovely, slightly melancholic melody. Beautiful.

11. Canopies (Solo Piano)

At the very end of the album, Canopies gets an additional focus. The song is the core track and this solo piano instrumental is underlining that role. A very fine way to close the album.

I will add the Spotify widget once the album has been published.

Bedouine – Neon Summer Skin – My View

Would I have run into Neon Summer Skin if there wasn’t this website? Likely not. Bedouine’s release is definitely not a mainstream track, but it comes with so much beauty, nice storytelling and musical excellence. Thus, I am thankful for moments like this review.

Favorite Song: Na Na Na
