I was so happy to be back in Abu Dhabi in February 2024. Especially due to the stricter Covid-19 restrictions in comparison to Dubai, I had to wait quite a while before I visited my favorite city in the United Arab Emirates again. Not only due to that fact, the first night of my stay has been a very special one: The WB is a Curio Collection by Hilton stay, which is not only branded by Warner Bros. but in fact located right next to the atmospheric indoor theme park Warner Bros World. Here is the review of my stay.
The WB Abu Dhabi – Location
The hotel is located right at Yas Plaza. As said, you have a short walk right out of the hotel lobby to reach Warner Bros World. The other parks and attractions, like Ferrari World, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi or the Yas Mall, are in close distance as well. The hotel is also right next to Yas Waterworld. The distance to Abu Dhabi Airport (AUH) is less than ten kilometers. Central Abu Dhabi attractions are some 30 to 35 km away, though. Yas Island also has a rather good transport system by buses, which may be very helpful. Taxis are generally cheap in the United Arab Emirates as well. If you arrive by car, the hotel offers complimentary valet parking.
The WB Abu Dhabi – Atmosphere
The hotel is having a striking atmosphere, there are so many bits and pieces which made me smile. For example, the lobby is featuring large screens with Warner Bros. snippets, All around the hotel, you find items related to the movies and other kinds of entertainment the company had produced – starting with a lot of pictures and graphics, but also original movie items. This also includes the rooms. The welcome letter in my room, for example, has been “signed” by Bruce Wayne. In which other hotel do you receive greetings by Batman?
The WB Abu Dhabi – Room
I had booked a King Artist Room, which was at a semi-flex (five day cancellation period) rate of 1,141 AED, roughly 288 EUR. You have to say, though, that every night of your stay includes a one day ticket for one park (see below). Breakfast has been included due to my Hilton Honors Diamond status. I guess that I have been upgraded to a Directors Room, which was really nice and spacious. From a Warner Bros cushion to pictures on the wall, there were some signature items in that room in the upper floor, which had a direct view on the indoor theme park. The room was really nice and also came with universal power outlets at the large work desk, which I highly appreciated. Like in many U.A.E. hotels, likely, the heating of the room did not work well. However, typically, you need the (very effective) air conditioning in these places only anyway.
The shower bathroom has been a real treat as well. There were nice amenities and the bathroom overall felt absolutely fine for purpose. The level of service is typically very high at better U.A.E. hotels, so that it is almost needless to say that the room was spotlessly clean. One thing I did miss in the room, though, was a rack for the luggage. A sufficient amount of complimentary water has been provided as well.
The WB Abu Dhabi – Breakfast
Breakfast was served in the Sidekick restaurant, which is themed after Duffy Duck, but also had a lot of other WB characters in and around the room. After the Premier Inn Dubai International Airport I stayed the night before had a really nice breakfast regarding it is a Premier Inn, I loved the wide selection of breakfast items the hotel has on offer. The only signature item were Bugs Bunny-shaped waffles. However, you could order egg dishes – and the Eggs Benedict were as delicious as the remaining items I tried. I was at the buffet rather early and there were not too many people around. In peak times, the hotel is using two restaurants for breakfast in parallel. You can also sit outside, either on a terrace next to the pool or a terrace overlooking the entrance of Warner Bros World.
The WB Abu Dhabi – Sports / Pools
The WB Abu Dhabi offers two pool. On the first floor, there is a large (outdoors) pool landscape, which is meant as a family pool. It looked really nice and also features an open air cinema screen and a pool bar. I went to the infinity pool on the rooftop. The area also features a rooftop bar, which is making it an adults only location. I cannot tell you whether the hotel is acting in line with that policy – I was the only one daring to swim in the lovely pool, while the other guests went for drinks only. I really enjoyed it, even though I would have loved to have drink service there.
On the first floor, there is also a spa and gym area. I had a quick look into it, it was really nice.
The WB Abu Dhabi – Service
In regards of service, I loved the hotel from the very first moment. I loved the staff, which was very welcoming. During my check-in, Tom & Jerry were in the lounge as well, which was lovely. Unfortunately, I did not see characters at other times. I read that the dinner buffet at the Sidekicks does have them as well, but cannot confirm it. There is also a character store in the hotel lobby. The WiFi in the room worked well, too. After I came back from a short trip, I had some nice fruit and chocolates in my room as a welcome present, which I definitely appreciated. At check-in I have been pointed to a QR code for the hotel directory. Unfortunately, this code was not available in the room.
The WB Abu Dhabi – My View
I don’t need to say too much more than: this hotel made me smile. It offers great service in a memorable atmosphere. Thus, even the very few smaller weaker parts of my stay do not feel to be really relevant. The night at the The WB has been an experience I will keep in my heart. You should, of course, bear in mind that the place is a luxury family hotel and it maybe be a bit of hectic during peak visits.
