Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 12th July 2024)

My bags and cameras are packed, I am ready to head to Newport for the Infosys Tennis Hall of Fame Open. A very exciting week in the United States lies ahead of me.. Travel and music coverage will be reduced in favor of tennis. Of course, I will share my Songs of the Week and other regular contents. Before that, though, time to have a new episode of new song releases this week.

The Beaches – Takes One To Know One

The leading song this week comes from Canada. The all female alt-rock band has been formed in 2013 in Toronto. Before that, parts of the band have been members of the pop punk quartet Done with Dolls. Two of their songs already topped the Canadian rock charts and they won four Juno Awards. I love it!

Larkin Poe – Bluephoria

Staying with the ladies, staying in North America: my second song this week is Bluephoria by Larkin Poe. Rebecca and Megan Lovell do what they do best – straight roots roock. Cool song!

In Extremo – Wolkenschieber

The darkest rock song this week is by In Extremo. The Medieval metal band released their new song Wolkenschieber this week. The song is also the title track of their new album, which will be released on 6th September 2024. The band is currently touring open airs (including some at historic castles) and festivals and will be on stage in winter.

The Sarandons – Dream Machine

With The Saradons, I feature another band from Toronto in my this week’s Songs of the Week. Dream Machine is a bitter-sweet indie-rocker, which stays in your mind.

Neov – A Little Taste

Neov (which is spelled NEØV correctly) released their new single A Little Taste this Thursday already. The Finnish indie-pop band released this song as a feature track to their upcoming album Soft Atlas, which will be released on 23rd August 2024. I really like this one.

JAS – Vielleicht

JAS is a 20 year old German artist from BerlinVielleicht (“Maybe”) is the single release before he is releasing his debut EP. With Winterherz, he already made it into the German charts. This one has quite some potential as well.

Jo Halbig – Rad aus Carbon

Jo Halbig became famous in German-speaking countries as lead singer of the band Killerpilze. While this project is on hiatus since 2019, Halbig is going solo and doing really impressing music. The song is dealing with the current society and how things are changing. He will be on tour in spring 2025.

Clueso – Für Immer Jetzt

The German artist is put on an athletics track for a good reason: The song Für Immer Jetzt (“Forever Now”) is the official song of Team D, the German Olympic Games Team. A rhythmic, uplifting song. Will this be the right soundtrack for golden medals? Paris 2024 will tell soon.

Rainhard Fendrich – Wladimir

The Austrian rock legend jokes about Wladimir (Putin) – this song is just too hilarious not to be shared. A great release (at least if you speak German).

Nico Santos – Human Being

Nico Santos released a typical Nico Santos song this week. The groovy pop Human Being feels like dancing with its present groove. Nice one.

Amos Lee – Darkest Places

Philadelphia-origin Amos Lee is about to release his new album soon. I already received the promo for Transmissions, which will be released on 9th August 2028. I did not have a proper listen yet, but Darkest Places and the singles already released feel promising.

Florian Künstler – Auf den allerletzten Blick

This is already the third time I feature Florian Künstler in my release radar. “I think it was on the very last sight”. Is the final line of the chorus of his lovely ballad. He announced the tour dates for his 2025 tour. I will that this could be a great experience.

Mae Stephens – Small Town Syndrome

Another lovely emotional song is Small Town Syndrome by the British artist Mae Stephens. The song is promoting the her upcoming EP Securely Insecurely, which will be released on 2nd August 2024.

Calum Scott – Roots

Britain’s Got Talent boosted the career of Calum Scott. Since then, the British musician from Hull boosted his career with catching pop songs. Roots is another perfect, new example for that. A great summer party soundtrack, indeed.

Perlregen – Besser

The German band Perlregen spreads summer feelings with their single Besser as well. The pop duo from Saarbrücken shared their latest song with charming retro vibes this week. I really enjoy dancing to its rhythm.

Dennis Wilms – Wer will schon normal

I rarely share German party schlager with you. However, this one by Dennis Wilms, who is also known as a TV host, is a really nice catch. And it nicely continues with summer and party vibes at the end of my song selection.
