I always love to share some new bands and their debut releases with you. On 23rd January 2026, the German rock band Dramatist share their first record Wasting Words. I had the opportunity having a listen beforehand and share my thoughts with you.

Dramatist – About The Artists

Dramatist is a German alternative rock and postcore band from Bremen. The singer of the band is Oskar Brozek, who is also playing the guitar. The other band members are Marco van Gete, Roman Pelz, Johann Dallmeyer and drummer Moritz Vandreier. The band already appeared at the Wacken Open Air or the Hamburg Reeperbahn Festival.

Dramatist – Wasting Words – Track by Track

The eight track album lasts 37 minutes.

1. Black Hole

The Bremen guys are sending a wake-up call to the listener and make their guitars roar from the very beginning of the album. However, the instrumental intro of the album also has some progressive vibes and underlines the instrumental strengths of the band. After 75 seconds, when Oskar Brozek takes over the microphone, the instruments feel to slow down, not daring to be too loud. But that’s just a short episode. Rock fans get a lot of guitar and rock energy in this song, I promise.

2. Fat White Families

Already the title of this track makes me curious about it. After a short instrumental intro, Brozek shouts into the microphone. This aggressive style of the song stays until its end. A really nice rocker by the Germans.

3. Disappointed

The 04:45 minute song Disappointed comes with a massive intro. Thereafter, the instruments calm down for the first stanza. Thus, the third track reminds of the opener. The Northern Germans keep the song interesting and good listening to. A key reason for that is that they do have a nice plot – there is even a break in the middle of the song.

4. The League

The League is driven by massive bass grooves. Overall, the song is slower, feels melancholic, which is also reflected in the vocal style. The 5:19 minute epic does not catch me that much, even thoguh Dramastist increases the energy level in later parts of the song.

5. Glasgow Nights

Scotland is calling – and we are going to a three minutes visit to the Glasgow Nights. Some sections at the beginning of the song could even lead to a ballad. But these guys are rockers – and you feel it soon thereafter.

6. Unknown Hero

Brozek is comparably early in Unknown Hero – the vocals start very soon in this song. The song has a nice alternative rock energy. It comes with a nice, rather straight melody as well. I really enjoy listening.

7. Loathing

From the very beginning, Loathing is spreading a darker atmosphere. The contious bass drum beat and the briefly looped riifs increase that feeling. Right when you hope the song reaching a climax, there is the bridge with spoken lyrics. Nonetheless, the second part of the song does have an interesting plot.

8. Go

Go is the epic finale of Dramatist’s debut album, adding another 6:25 minutes to the record. After a quiet vocal intro, the German band is quickly increasing the rock force on the song. Later parts remind of the steady, marching style of the predecesoor, while the song later has some interestng instrumental elements in stock as well.

Dramatist – Wasting Words – My View

Wasting Words is a very solid debut album by Dramatist. I feel that the band is having more potential than they show in this release. But let’s see how their career is developing.

Favorite Song: Black Hole
