After I reviewed Turbulento in 2020, Superelastico is the second album by Marquess I feature on my website. The German band had quite some success in the past, so that I was absolutely curious about their musical journey towards Italo pop. Here is my review of the 14th August 2026 digital release. The physical album will follow two weeks later.

Marquess – About The Artists
Marquess is a German band founded in 2006 in Hanover. The band name derives from a hotel the musician stayed at. Nowadays, Marquess is a trio, consisting of Sascha Pierro (vocals), Christians Fleps (keys) and Dominik Decker (guitar). They typically do pop music with a Latin music influence, most of their songs are in Spanish. Already in 2006, they released their debut album Marquess. Even though the single El temperamento made it to the German Top 10 and stayed in the charts for half a year, the album performed reasonably. However, their sophomore record Frenetica, released one year later, was their absolute breakthrough. The album is a platinum one in Germany and a golden record in Switzerland. In Switzerland, the leading single Vayamos companeros topped the charts (2nd spot in Germany).
Overall, Marquess has released eleven albums so far. Another very successful one was Favoritas (2025), which was a golden record in Germany in 2014. However, Marquess is also a very successful act all over Europe. In total, they had Top 10 hits in eleven different countries.
Marquess – Superelastico – Track by Track
The thirteen song album lasts 41 minutes.

1. Da Lo Mismo
The first three songs of Superelastico have been released before the album itself. Do Lo Mismo (“It Doesn’t Matter”) already sets a certain direction. The song has a typical Italo pop sound, but is in fact sung in Spanish. Italo pop feels to be booming nowadays – and that song is simply a fun one just in line with that.
2. Pura Vida
With Pura Vida, Marquess is a bit closer to their typical sound. Happy pop sounds with some Latin American pop influences. However, there is also this tiny little bit of Italo disco sound, which adds a nice touch to the groovy vibes. Nice.
3. Superelastico
The third one is the title track of the album. I love The Kolors, one of the big names in Italo pop in recent years. And – apart from the language – this one could be a track by the Naples band. Especially the chorus is lovely.
4. Vamos a la playa
When you read this title, you have to think about the 1983 song by the Italian duo Righeira. However, Marquess does not go for a cover in here (even though I feel it could be fun), but present a groovy, laid back song. There are the typical Marquess summer and beach vibes in it. Thus, 43 years after the release of the Italo disco classic, another Vamos a la playa makes me dance again.
5. Cafecito feat. Raykuba
Marquess are adding Cuban vibes to their Cafecito. Their guest musician Raykuba is a Cuban rapper, who has worked with the Germans before. The chorus is great and drives this fun song in a wonderful way.
6. Cosas de la vida
Marquess chose Cosas de la vida (“That’s life”) as another single release of Superelastico. The song is a nice, a bit of repetitive pop song with a catching beat. A really well done one.
7. Tu sonrisa
Tu sonrisa (“Your Smile”) is a song with a Latin pop vibes. The song is rather made for the later hours of summer party, when the people go for a slower – and more intimate – dance. The nice groove is the key catch of this one.
8. Yo te veo
The eighth Superelastico track simply states “I see you”. The song is a rather straight pop track, which does not create too many Latin vibes. This increases the Italo disco feeling, which is not too bad at all.
9. Malaga
Malaga is next. The song is more present than the predecessor, even though You te veo feels to have the better vibes overall. Malaga, however, has a really nice melody throughout the entire song. If you are deeper into Spanish than me, I am sure you want to sing along to the chorus.
10. Farmacia
In the tenth song of their 2026 album, Marquess takes you to the “Pharmacy”. The Italo disco beats definitely strike in this one. The keyboard elements work out especially well in this one.
11. C’est la vie
WIth C’est la vie, the album presents another song in a rather “traditional” Marquess sound. It’s not the most striking track, but a rather nice listen.
12. Manos Arriba feat. Nené Vasquez
For the twelfth song, Marquess collaboration with Grammy Latino winner of 2001, Nene Vasquez. The Venezuelan artist from Caracas is especially well known for his drumming and percussion skills, but is also a vocalist. However, he is especially leaving a mark in here boosting the rhythmic section of the song. This leads to a really nice song.
13. Superelastico (Versione italiana)
You have to wait until the very last song until you get what this album deserves – a song in Italian. The title track sounds cool in Spanish, but somehow, this one feels more original. And it closes the album with the fantastic, catching, and fun vibes.
Marquess – Superelastico – Spotify
I will add the Spotify widget once the album has been published.
Marquess – Superelastico – My View
I like that musical experiment by Marquess. The title track Superelastico is a fantastic listen in both versions, Spanish and Italian. However, the Italo disco vibes songs work as well as the rather typical Marquess tracks. The band from Hanover spreads a lot of fun, summer, and dancing vibes.
Favorite Song: Superelastico (Versione italiana)
