What are you doing when you found a band in 2011? You simply call it Since11. That’s the story behind the band name. In my review of their latest EP Kinky Universe, Random Trouble, I dig a bit deeper into their music. Follow me in my thoughts about this 4th October 2024 release.
Since11 – About The Artists
Since11 is an indie-rock / rock duo, which has originally been founded in Bolzano / Bozen in South Tyrolia, Italy. The duo consists of Claus Stecher and Philipp Trojer. Both typically act as guitarists as well as vocalists in their songs. However, there have been full band shows recently as well. They are nowadays based in Zurich, Switzerland. In 2014, Since11 released their first album, Nologo Gentlemen’s Club. After a live album, they released the EP Home from Holidays in 2022.
Since11 – Kinky Universe, Random Trouble – Track by Track
The five track EP lasts 17 minutes:
1. Fancy Place To Die
Since11 title their website with the slogan Easy-going indie rock duo from the alps. The easy going part definitely applies for the opener Fancy Place To Die. It is simply fun listening to the two guys, who leave quite a mark in the mind of the listener in this rather brief 2:34 minute listen.
2. Magic Moments For Rent
The slower and groovy track Magic Moments For Rent comes with a touch of blues rock. The duo presents a very interesting song in here. There is room to sing-a-long with the band, to enjoy some cool hooks – or just to smile and enjoy the lyrics, which spread quite some positive energy as well. I like it.
3. Ditch Day
Ditch Day heads on with musical enjoyment: the song simply has a nice flow. The wider instrumentation works very well. Especially the keys (and, of course, having a drummer) adds a lot to the guitar duo sound. Well done.
4. The Wise Man In The Castle
The band shared the following two songs on YouTube already, but they are new on streaming platform. To me, this one is the song with the most catchy chorus. The groovy bridge does not only spread a stronger indie vibe, but also adds a lot to the song. Cool one.
5. This Soul
Kinky Universe, Random Trouble closes with a rather quiet listen. However, it is again the chorus of This Soul which is adding a lot of magic to the listen. This overall creates a beautiful plot and a nice indie-rock finale of the album.

Since11 – Kinky Universe, Random Trouble – My View
I simply had a good time with Claus and Phillip (and their band) Since11 present a joyful set of five songs, which make you smile while listening. Sometimes, this is exactly what you need. Would love to see them live – unfortunately, they majorly tour Northern Italy, Austria and Southern Germany.
