For my coverage of the Swedish Floorball Finals 2024 in the Friends Arena in Solna, I originally had a booking at the Quality Hotel Friends, a hotel right at the arena. However, a flight re-booking made it much more sensible to go for a hotel close to Stockholm-Arlanda Airport (ARN). I thus went for another Choice Hotel and opted for the Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport. The hotel is directly linked to the terminal building. Here is a review of my stay.
Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport – Location
The hotel is located right opposite from the terminal of Arlanda Airport and directly linked to its Sky City area. By that, it si also close to the public railway station of the airport. The Arlanda Express station is a bit more far away. There is, of course, also the possibility to reach the hotel by car or taxi from the other side of the hotel.
Apart from the services Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport of course profits from the shopping and dining facilities at Arlanda Airport. You have to note, though, that their opening times are typically linked to the flight schedule. In later hours, you finally end up the airport’s McDonald’s when you are looking for a quick bite. Even though walking distances between the different Arlanda Terminals may be bothering, this place definitely comes with a lovely location for travelers.
Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport – Room
I had a two night booking, Friday to Sunday in April 2024, at the Clarion Hotel Arlanda. The total, flexible rate was 3,240 SEK, roughly 275 EUR. As far as I understood, all rates at the hotel include breakfast. The room was not overwhelmingly large, but definitely fit for purpose. I liked the nice work desk. There is also a large TV screen and several power outlets.
Just in line with the room, the bathroom was well maintained and cleaned. The Clarion Hotel offers Rituals amenities in dispensers, which I felt to be really nice. There is plenty of space in the bathroom, which comes with a shower only.
Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport – Breakfast
Especially in airport hotels, breakfast is a crucial thing. Typically, when you stay at an airport hotel, you have a rather late flight and don’t feel like heading on from the airport – or you arrive the afternoon before your flight as you are leaving so early. Having breakfast times from 4:00 to 10:30 (the first and last hour only features limited service), the Clarion Hotel Arlanda perfectly covers the travelers’ need. Breakfast is served in the large Runway restaurant on the lower level. The selection of items is very nice and has a typical Scaninavian touch. However, I felt on both mornings that the breakfast crew is understaffed. Rather a lot of used plates and cutlery on the tables in the large room as well as food items which have not been stocked up have been an indicator. The hotel also offers egg dishes live cooking. However, on both mornings, there was no chef who could provide that service.
Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport – Service
The welcome and the services at the hotel were overall very nice. I felt very welcome at check-in. When I had a question where a certain bus line is leaving, I would have expected that asking for the departure of line number 40 from Arlanda Centralen in fact means a train and not a bus. The hotel drives a nice gym close to the reception. The same area also runs an outdoor pool and a sauna, which I unfortunately could not have a look into. WiFi in the room worked very nicely.
One should maybe note that despite the hotel is a Choice Hotel and I booked it on their website, you cannot earn status nights or points at the global Choice Hotel program. The Scandinavian branches have their own one named Strawberry. This is really bothering.
Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport – My View
The Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport is not only a very good choice when you are having a late arrival or early flight from Stockholm’s main airport. The services are very good and the connections turn it into a very convenient place, even if you are aiming to visit the city during the day. I absolutely enjoyed it.
