Flyctory.com Pros

  • Great singer-songwriter album
  • Nice folk and country vibes
  • Very personal, relatable songs

Whenever music is flagged as country music on the promotion platform I majorly use, I of course go for a deeper listen. That happened to the album Erinnerungen machen by German artist Tobias Panwitz. It was just the third category given on the platform (after singer-songwriter and folk), but I really enjoyed a first listen of the release. Here is my deeper one on 28th March 2025 release by the artist from Brandenburg.

Tobias Panwitz – About The Artist

Tobias Panwitz is a German artist, who is doing country and folk music. At the beginning of his career, he worked under the artist name Trailheadunder which he released five studio albums and an acoustic album. His songs have been majorly in English. Erinnerungen machen is his second album of the Berlin-based musician under his civil name, after Wachstumsschübe released in 2023.

Tobias Panwitz – Erinnerungen machen – Track by Track

The thirteen song album lasts 53 minutes. The album title translates to “Making Memories”

1. Es geht wieder los

Erinnerungen machen starts with two songs, which Panwitz has released before the album already. The first one is Es geht wieder los (“It is starting again”). A song which perfectly fits as opening track – the album describes he memories and experiences you make as a musician, being on the road with your profession. This song expresses the emotions when you are heading off for a new adventure. A lovely folk track with a nice, harmonic melody.

2. Wo die Straße mich hinführt

Wo die Straße mich hinführt (“Where the road is leading me”) starts with the harmonica. Overall, the second track has a much stronger country music influence than the opener. The song is a smart storytelling with some nice irony. Shall one name the motorway A9 in Germany after Panwitz, wo is driving on it that often? Will the fee for the gig at least cover the travel costs? A really great listen.

3. Bin noch nicht hier

The title of the third song roughly translates to “I haven’t arrived yet” – and that’s the song is about – the feeling of not being home, not feeling being close to somebody. A rather negative view on the life on the road, which comes with a melancholic touch on the melodic side as well. The song is a country-folk track, in which Tobias Panwitz again strikes with good storytelling. Even his irgendwie wird’s immer weitergehen (“it will go on somehow”) rather feels like a sad message.

4. Bunkerberg

The fourth song is named Bunkerberg, which literally translates to “Bunker Mountain”. However, with an elevation of 78 meters, it is the highest elevation of Berlin. The song thereby reflects the emotions linked to the city and coming back there. Will nur immer weit, immer weit weg, aber nichts ist besser als hier – “I want to go away, far away, but no place is better than here”. A song about home, which also somehow refers to family an friends. Apart from storytelling, the five minute song also invests quite some time in melodic parts.

5. Was vorbei ist

Was vorbei ist, ist vorbei (“What is over is over”) is a song about a faded relationship, which has failed on the road. Searching for the formerly beloved person is senseless. Tobias Panwitz states Und könnt’ ich heut’ nochmal zurück, ich ließ Dich nicht so einfach gehen – “And if I could turn back time today, I would not let you go that easily”. A very emotional track, which is leaning towards country music again.

6. Drei Engel

The third song of the album, which has already been released beforehand, is Drei Engel (“Three Angels”). A song about a loss (“Three Angels are taking care of you”). A deep and touching song, which does rather come with a depressing atmosphere. Especially the fiddle part in the bridge is even boosting these emotions.

7. Zug nach Süden

The seventh track (“Train to the South”) is another nice country track with a nice fiddle presence. The track describes an encounter on a train ride. It comes with a really nice vibes and a good rhythm, which spreads quite some positive energy – a nice contrast after the rather dark listen before.

8. Flusslied

For the eighth song, you need to block more than seven minutes to have the full listen. The title translates to “River Song” – and it is (obviously) the longest one on Erinnerungen machen. The rather slow track incepts with the piano, before other instruments are joining. It describes the emotions during a boat ride. Tobias Panwitz allows to drift on the water, slowly coming home, passing different kinds of scenery and having different reflections. A lovely imagination, which is driven by his excellent storytelling and a fine, flowing melody

9. Der Weg

Der Way (“The Way”) is a slow folk-style singer-songwriter track. The song describes different settings while being on the road, but is majorly praise of the region where Panwitz is living nowadays. A warm and lovely listen.

10. Immer wenn du weinst

The title (“Any time you cry”) suggests another rather slow and sad song. However, the song is rather positive and rhythmic, comparing the smile on your partner’s face with the sunshine – and the tears with rain. Water, which is necessary to grow the Garten unserer Liebe (“Garden of our love”). A lovely song, which embraces the ups and downs in a relationship.

11. Hab ich dich

The piano-driven song starts with describing a night tram ride through Berlin. You end up at home, having a good time together. Hab ich Dich, endlich hab ich Dich (“I got you, I finally got you”). A beautiful love song, which does not need more than the piano, a fiddle and Tobias Panwitz voice and lyrics to be impressing.

12. Immer wieder am Meer

The last longer track on the album is the five minute Immer wieder am Meer (“Again and again at the sea”). You feel that this is the “happy place” of the artist. The song comes with a nice plot. Alles endet am Meer (“Everything finishes at the sea”) und Ich bin wieder zurück (“I am back again”) underline the beautiful, warm emotions spread by the penultimate track.

13. Erinnerungen machen

Last, but not least, there is the title track of the album. The weather is nice and Tobias Panwitz suggest to have a few days out at the Baltic Sea. Lass uns Erinnerungen machen für die dürren Zeiten, die immer wieder kommen – “Let’s make memories for the scrawny times which come back again and again”. The song is a rhythmic and positive message at the end of the album. A lovely one.

The album was expected to be available via streaming platforms on 28th March 2025. There are technical difficulties. You can purchase it from the artist’s website, though.

Tobias Panwitz – Erinnerungen machen – My View

Tobias Panwitz is a lovely storyteller. His thirteen tracks of the 2025 album are very relatable and a beautiful listen. I just love to dig into his life as a musician, but also into how he is driving family under these conditions. The songs are beautiful and feel very personal – just as singer-songwriter music should be. A lovely release.

Favorite Song: Erinnerungen machen
