Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 29th November 2024)

Happy Thanksgiving (especially to my North American followers)! While the North American music market is currently rather concentrating on Black Friday deals for concert tickets, there have been a few new releases on the European side which are worth sharing. Of course, there are also some Christmas-related songs again. Here is my new episode of the Songs of the Week.

Emil Bulls – My Favorite Waste of Time

The press kit to this new release from the German band Emil Bulls came with one of the strangest items I ever received. There was no bio, but a tour poster – of a tour the Emil Bulls had in early 2024. Really weird, as the Munich based nu metal band had quite a successful year, like the first Top 3 album in Germany (Love Will Fix It). Their new song is featuring its deluxe edition. They also recorded the song Warriors of Love with metal queen Doro this year. Great work!

Rooftop Sailors – Trenches

The Rooftop Sailors are an alternative rock band based in Bern, SwitzerlandTrenches is their first single after sharing their sophomore album Retroslave this year.

DaS Neuwerk – Wir bleiben wir

DaS Neuwerk is a pop-rock band from Erfurt, Germany. Their new song Wir bleiben wir is really catching and comes with a lot of party song potential.

Sun’s Sons – There’s You

Indie-pop from Frankfurt in Germany – I already read about Sun’s Sons being a “newcomer” band. But I feel that after two EP releases and their 2023 debut album, they already made their first steps. This week, they released the fine There’s You. A good one

Jimmy Kelly – Amelia (A Christmas Carol)

Jimmy Kelly is one of the many successful members of the US AmericanIrish Kelly Family. The 1971-born artist released this rather energetic Christmas Carol this week. Good one!

Lucas Semm – No Wishlist This Year

Another German artist from Germany I feature this week is Lucas Semm. However, this track is a rather straight Christmas pop track with an international style – and a bit of a hip hop groove.

Ed Sheeran – Under the Tree

Under the Tree is part of the soundtrack of the That Christmas movie. The new Ed Sheeran release just feels like the perfect fade out of my release radar this week.

Jólasoul – Jól í Føroyum

I regularly scan the new songs of the Faroese record label TUTL. This week I ran into the domestic band Jolasoul (which means “Christmas Soul”), who released a full self-titled album with Faroese Christmas songs. I simply loved this one, which translates (if my limited knowledge of Faroese does not proof me wrong) to “Christmas on the Faroe Islands”. A beautiful one full of Christmas spirit.
