Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 18 November 2022)

Very interesting weekend this time: with the shows of Milky Chance and Brett Young, both in Cologne, I had quite a lot of music on my list this weekend. There are also a lot of new songs, trying to fight for some additional revenue in Santa’s peak time. Hope you enjoy this wide range of new songs, as of 18th November 2022.

Bellucci Boi – Red Bull Dose

Most people know Bellucci Boy rather as a guitar player on several rap productions. Now, the artist is working on his first solo EP. “It is music to shit on the world and give it a f*ck” is a quote about the song I found on another platform. I love this punk rocker.

Smash Into Pieces – Sleepwalking

Cinematic rock from Sweden: Smash Into Pieces are about to release their eighth studio album. Sleepwalking is the first feature single – and it definitely sounds promising. By the way, the Scandinavians currently tour with Within Temptation and Evanescence.

Rogers – Komm, wir sterben aus

“Come on, we become extinct” is the translation of the title of this song by Rogers. They are a punk rock band from Dusseldorf, Germany, who already do music since a decade. Komm, wir sterben aus is a pre-release of the album Rambazamba & Randale, which will be released soon.

Erik Cohen – Reeperbahn

While the party and red light district Reeperbahn in Hamburg used to be a bit of a scary place, it is nowadays a very relaxed area to enjoy yourself. I love to be there when I am in the Northern German city. Erik Cohen obviously feels the same and wrote this amazing anthem. The song is also part of a TV documentation, named Neonstaub – Die Straßen von St. Pauli (“Neon dust – the streets of St. Pauli”).

Cold Years – Merry Christmas Everyone

Mid of November – time for some Christmas tunes in the Songs of the Week. But still, I don’t want to go too much to the classic Christmas sound, so that the Scottish band Cold Years is doing a perfect one for that purpose. They transformed Shakin’ Stevens classic into a nice rocker. I love it.

CHRIU – Wieder Dezember

CHRIU is an artist from Tyrol in Austria. He released his debut single this summer and is now already going for a rather holiday-alike track.

Wolfgang Petry – Du gehörst zu mir und ich gehör zu Dir

Not his country alter ego Pete Wolf, but the “original” schlager artist Wolfgang Petry is releasing a new song this week. However, there is a nice undeniable touch of country and rock music in this song as well. I just like his straight way of doing music.

Kevin Neon – Ballett

Kevin Neon is a schlager artist from Nordhausen, Thuringia, in Germany. The song is a bit of stereotype, but I liked the slow vibe with a bit of a touch of a ballad.

Alexander Eder feat. Franzi Harmsen – Sag nie wieder

Whenever Austrian artist Alexander Eder is releasing a new song or album, I am stunned by his voice. Franzi Harmsen is very fascinating artist from Troisdorf in the German Rheinland region, just next to the city where I grew up. Sag nie wieder (“Never say again”) comes very modern pop sound. Great duet.

Everdeen – I’m Sorry

Everdeen is a German synth pop and indie rock act, which is having its roots in the Turkey and the United States, where the two protagonists, Sumeyra and Ian Stahl, met. Nowadays, they are living in Stuttgart, Germany. International roots leading to an international pop sound.

Roast Apple – Light Years

Roast Apple sounds like traditional x-mas food, but in fact they are a pop band from very Northern Germany. Nowadays, the project is located in Hamburg. Light Years is a catching track, which made me move and smile… Just as you expect pop music to be alike 🙂

Lilly – Edge of Myself

Edge of Myself is the debut single of Berlin artist Lilly. You thus might not know her yet, but many Germans know her parents, the actors Jan-Josef Liefers and Anna Loos. A very cool, deep song, which has also be used as the title track of the independent movie Die wahre Schönheit.

Olga Dudkova feat. Kevin Andre – Time

Time sung by Olga Dudkova and produced by Los Angeles-based Kevin Andre is a song which could have easily made it to the top of this weeks list as well. The Russian artist grew up in Siberia and China. Outstanding listen. Time is the first new single release after Dudkova released her debut album in April 2022.

Phil Young – Unwritten Scene

Unwritten Scene is another deep and intense song on this week’s list of tracks. The German artist is more and more establishing in the European music scene and also toured a couple of its countries. Not too surprisingly: his blend of soul, classic sounds and pop is beautiful.

1986zig – Danke

Two releases by German artist in parallel: first of all, he released his first album Zweite Chance this weekend – and then there is the single Danke (“Thanks”). Great, intense ballad. Feels it is worth to listen to the other songs as well.

Arthur Horvath – Sehnsucht

Arthur Horvath was born in Romania, but also lived in Seoul, Prague, London, Paris and Zanzibar. He is driving a successful YouTube channel – and doing good music as you can feel when you listen to Sehnsucht (“Desire”).

Nicky Youre – Eyes On You

The US artist Nicky Youre had his breakthrough song Sunroof in 2021. Eyes On You strongly reminds of this success track with even more summerly, happy vibes. Great pop song.

Matze Knop – Musiala

Excuse me for that Christmas song. German comedian released a three track EPDas kleine Fußball-Weihnachtsalbum (“The small Soccer Christmas album”). It is exactly as it is titled: a blend of Christmas, soccer… and the Matze Knop party sound. This one is about German national player Jamal Musiala.
