After I already introduced you to my good Saudia Boeing B787 Dreamliner experience, I still owe you the second part of my review of the Saudi Arabian airline. Two of my February 2024 trip with them was driven by their legacy widebody fleet, the Aurbus A330 Business Class. Here is my review of the experience.

 

Saudia Arabian Airlines – My Airbus A330 Flights

I had two Airbus A330 flights with Saudia. They brought me from Tunis (TUN) to their hub in Jeddah (JED) and back. There are three configurations of the A330-300 which are driven by the airline. All of them come with a 2-2-2 configuration, i.e. two seats each on each window and two in the center of the cabin. The configuration majorly operating on the Tunisia route is having a total of six rows, i.e. 36 recliner seats.

 

Saudia Arabian Airlines – At The Airport

As I already told you in the airport review and in my Saudia Dreamliner Business Class post, Tunis (TUN) is definitely not one of the best airports I have traveled from so far. Nonetheless, the services at the Saudia check-in were really good and the airport. The Alfursan International Lounge at Jeddah (JED) is a real gem and transfer services at the airport worked out really well.

 

Saudia Arabian Airlines Airbus A330 – The Cabin

As said above, the business class in my Airbus A330 legs was operated in a 2-2-2 configuration. The seats are similar to Domestic First seats in North America, i.e. they recline, but do not lead to a horizontal sleeping position. This does feel a bit of outdated, but the legs were not very long and the seats overall worked out well regarding the duration. The seats are controlled electrically and also feature a footrest, which lead to additional comfort. Pillows and blankets were provided. The armrests of the seats feature the entertainment system monitors and a table. There are also power outlets at the seat. Saudia also runs a couple of Airbus A330 planes which do feature lie-flat seats.

 

Saudia Arabian Airlines Airbus A330 – Inflight Experience

The inflight entertainment system at Saudia is good. There is some religious touch in the Arabian airline, but this did not disturb you at all. If you are bothered by a Muslim prayer before the flight, you might see that differently. Saudia is a so-called dry airline and does not serve alcohol. However, the choice of juices and non-alcoholic drinks is excellent. The toilets are standard Airbus A330 ones. I really liked the friendly and welcoming service of the airline. Saudia Arabian Airlines Airbus A330 – My View

Flying the legacy fleet of Saudia Arabian Airlines does have a bit of an outdated feeling, you just cannot argue against it. Nonetheless, I liked it. Part of that disadvantage compared to the much better modern fleet is still compensated by the lovely service. I would not really favor the plane for a longer trip, but for the Tunis to Jeddah trip, it was absolutely fine.
