German Under 15 Floorball Nationals – Group B Matches

Group B started with the second match of the day. Overall, the teams felt being slightly stronger than the teams in Group A.

FBC Munich – Dümptener Füchse 14-1 (5-0, 4-1, 5-0)

Even though the score after 15 minutes does not suggest that: the first match of Group B was a much better one than the opener in Group A. However, there was one key issue: Munich was simply brutally strong and cool. They welcomed Dümpten with four goals in the first six minutes, before the “Foxes” could somehow get a bit into the game. 5-0 after 15 – this match did not feel to become a big thriller.

The Dümptener Füchse did adopt better to the game in the second period, but the Bavarian dominance and coolness was still too strong. Nonetheless, the biggest cheer was likely on the fans of the underdog, when Manuel Schneppe at least prevented that his team is bageled (28th). Munich had four goals in the second period, so that they lead by 9-1 in the second intermission.  In the third period, FBC Munich rolled on and over Dümpten. The final score: an impressing 14-1.

Dümptener Füchse – PSV Black Wolves Dessau 3-10 (1-2, 0-3, 2-5)

After Dessau could also not expect to beat dominant FBC Munich, the second match in Group B was already a showdown for the semifinals. Both teams started with a lot of respect and control. The Black Wolves were able to take the lead for the first time. Just eleven seconds after Dümpten tied the score, the Saxony-Anhalt team scored for the second time – likely with the best played attack of the tournament so far. Thus, they had a one goal lead after fifteen minutes.

In the second period, both teams started very disciplined, so that there were just few scoring opportunities. However, towards the end of the period, Dümpten’s small squad felt to become more crucial. The team did not manage to keep up their good defensive work. Dessau made use of that – and scored thrice in the last three minutes. This was more or less the story of the final period as well: Dümpten just could not put pressure on their opponents. Even though they pulled their goalie in the last seven minutes, there were simply too few good shots against the disciplned opponents. Finally, Dessau even made it in double-digit range and thus advanced to the semifinals, alongside Munich, already before the last match of Group A.

PSV Black Wolves Dessau – FBC Munich 0-10 (0-5, 0-3, 0-2)

0-5 after 15 minutes – the match took its way just as expected. FBC Munich felt to be simply one or two classes better than any of the teams in that league. The more it was sad that they asked the organizers to add illegal rink markings and that there were discussions about their first goal, at which the Dessau coach even stepped on the field to discuss with the umpires.

The most exciting thing about the remaining game was that Bremen pulled away the ball/rinkkeeper. They were back in the third period, though. This was not the only reason why the second period score was closer, “just” 0-3. Dessau played more agile and in a few situations, they were even a bit of unlucky. Munich cruised to a double-digit victory with two additional goals in the last 15 minutes.
