Flying from Muscle Shoals Airport (MSL) to Charlotte (CLT) on the fifth day of my Six US States and Nashville trip also required having two nights in Muscle Shoals in Northwest Alabama. There was no Hilton option which suited my needs anyway, so that I traveled more budget friendly. My hotel of choice was the Days Inn by Wyndham Muscle Shoals Florence. Here is the review of my stay.

 

Days Inn Muscle Shoals Florence – Location

The hotel is located right at Woodward Ave, on of the main streets in Muscle Shoals. If you follow the route Northbound, you cross the Tennessee River and reach the larger city of Florence, AL. There is no public transport (apart from taxis and rideshare) around, so that you should have a car to get to the Days Inn. Driving distance to Muscle Shoals Airport / Northwest Alabama Regional Airport (MSL) is roughly four miles or ten minutes.

The area around the hotel is very commercial. Some sections rather feature stores, while there is also a wide selection of restaurants. A Walmart Supercenter is located North of the hotel. Historic Muscle Shoals with the music studios is North of the hotel as well, both can be reached within minutes.

 

Days Inn Muscle Shoals Florence – Room

I had two nights at the Days Inn. The price for two nights, including complimentary breakfast, was 155.68 USD – absolutely striking compared to the Nashville prices I paid before. The room was actually quite nice. It felt slightly compact, but very fit for purpose. The Days Inn is built motel-alike, so that you ideally can park your car right in front of the room door. I liked the work desk, even though placed next to the entrance and the air condition. Even though I did not use it, I also liked having a microwave oven. In the summer heat of Alabama, the large fridge was a really nice feature as well.

The sink to the bathroom is located within the room. It gave me quite a lot of space for my bathroom items. The bathroom, including a low bathtub and the toilet, was right next to it and was absolutely fit for purpose. Basic amenities were given as a mixture of sealed items and dispensers. Overall, the room lead to a well-cleaned and quite well maintained impression from my side.

 

Days Inn Muscle Shoals Florence – Breakfast

I did not expect too much from breakfast at the Days Inn – but the hotel proofed me wrong. It was a bit of basic here and there, but it was absolutely fine regarding the price level. The hotel even offered a waffle machine. A nice feature of the hotel is that the breakfast room next to the reception is already opening at 5:00 – which meant that I could have a relaxed bite before heading to the airport on the first morning.

 

Days Inn Muscle Shoals Florence – Service

Check-in and check-out went smoothly and overall friendly. The hotel does not drive a gym or similar facility. I did struggle with the WiFi, though. It was rather slow and here and there broke down completely, also due to a rather week connection from the workdesk of the room. I thus had to use my 5G account from time to time.

 

Days Inn Muscle Shoals Florence – My View

The Days Inn by Wyndham Muscle Shoals Florence is a basic stay, indeed. But they also just demand a basic price, so that I was overall really happy with my stay. The room was nice in size and service, the breakfast exceeded my expectations. I also liked the early breakfast time. The key item on the negative side was, indeed, the internet connection. These things simply have to work sufficiently nowadays. Nonetheless, I was pleased with my experience.
