When my wife and I visited Las Vegas in December 2023, this was exactly ten years after our wedding there. For the anniversary day, we opted to go for a very special stay. We chose the same place as we stayed in ten years ago, at the Desert Rose Resort Las Vegas. An additional factor apart from the nostalgic feelings has been the very competetive price, which was much better than other places in the city charge you for new year. Here is my review.

 

Desert Rose Resort – Location

The resort is located close to the Southern edge of the Strip and next to the Northern end of the runways of Las Vegas Airport (LAS). Some of the “traditional” casino hotels are very close to it. For example MGM Grand is right across the street. The at most average OYO Hotel & Casino is a neighbor of the Desert Rose as well. The resort consists of multiple buildings, built around a main square. There are parking lots all around the resort, which makes it very convenient. My Pictured Story about the Las Vegas New Year’s Fireworks has been in fact produced from the parking lot.

As you are close to the strip with its transport options and the MGM Grand Monorail station is not too far away, you could even opt for the Desert Rose Resort if you are not traveling by car. However, it makes more sense to have one. Parking on the premises is free as a hotel guest. Close to the OYO, there is also a bus stop (Tropicana before Duke Ellington, bus line 201).

 

Desert Rose Resort – Room

My wife and I had a one bedroom suite at the Desert Rose Resort. For two nights at a rate with one week ahead cancellation option, the rate was 487.76 USD. The room rate does not include any meal, the hotel does not provide breakfast. However, the room is striking. The living room is large and coming with a cozy sofa area with TV as well as an eating / working table. The key feature of that part of the room is the fully equipped kitchen, even featuring an oven and a dishwasher. The huge fridge makes staying at the resort really convenient. The kitchen had all kinds of necessary equipment, from plates to spatulas. There is also a small balcony.

The second section of the suite room was the sleeping room with ensuite bathroom. The sleeping room had a nice size, even if not that huge. The bathroom area had a sink section and then the bathtub with shower as well as the toilet. Everything was very functional and felt rather new and modern. The total size of the room is a great value for money, especially compared to some other that central Las Vegas spots.

 

Desert Rose Resort – Service

In a place like this, you typically don’t interact that much with the staff. Check-in was very welcoming, though. We even got a small New Year’s Eve gift. WiFi in the room worked very well. The hotel also features a nice pool in the middle of the buildings. Furthermore, there are typical facilities like a laundry room.

 

Desert Rose Resort – My View

We really liked staying at the Desert Rose Resort in Las Vegas. The location is nice – and the fact that it is not a casino place turns it into a convenient, but also rather quiet place. The kitchen is great and was very helpful during our stay. Overall, I can definitely recommend staying there.
