Mina Richman (8th October 2026, Dusseldorf)

Mina Richman rather frequently appears in my music postings. Even though I missed reviewing her most recent album Different Flavours of Being Happy (2026), she made it to my Songs of the Week quite a few times. I also featured her 2022 EP Jaywalker. On 8th October 2026, I was finally able to also cover a live performance of her, held at the FFT in Düsseldorf, Germany.

This posting comes with 443 major size pictures as part of the concert gallery.

FFT – About The Venue

The FFT (Forum Freies Theater – “Free Theater Forum”) is a venue located close to Düsseldorf Main Station. As the name suggests, it is majorly used as a theater, but also hosts other cultural events like concerts. The FFT has a capacity of roughly 230 spectators. The total capacity is about 450, however, as they have multiple stages and rooms (which cannot be combined for one event) The Mina Richman show, however, was held in the foyer of the theater. Due to its central location, all kinds of transport, from local buses to international rail travel, are available. The building also hosts a parking garage named KAP1 (due to the Konrad-Adenauer-Platz there).

I have to add that I absolutely cannot recommend going there by car. The garage has incorrect directions to the theater, which is absolutely weird. Furthermore, the parking garage staff felt to cheat taxes or whatever for the parking fees. At two exists, the paying machines were not operating, you had to pay cash at the security desk.

Mina Richman – About The Artists

Mina Richman is a German-Iranian artist, who was born in 1988 in Berlin, but grew up in Bad Salzuflen in East Westphalia. Nowadays, she still lives in the region, in Bielefeld. She started releasing music in 2022, Jaywalker has been her debut EP. Her style is a mixture of folk, soul and hip hop elements. Still in 2022, the protest song Baba Said became viral, due to the protests in the Iran. So far, she had released two albums. Her debut album has been Grown Up in 2024.

On that evening, Richman was supported by Yasmina. She is an indie pop singer-songwriter from Gouda in the Netherlands. In 2025, she released her debut single Push and Pull. Later that year, the five track EP Vicious Circles had been added to her discography. However, there was no release yet in 2026.

Mina Richman – The Show

Yasmina and her guitarist stepped on stage right in time at 20:00 for her thirty minute set. The show did majorly feature her debut EP Vicious Circle. However, there were also some new songs as well as a cover, a very own, but nice version of Somebody That I Used To Know. She excused for not speaking German and spoke English to the audience – even Dutch likely would have worked out. The gig was just her second in Germany, and she did a very warm and personal set, so that Düsseldorf really appreciated her and sang along to her debut single Lost in You. Before the closing song, she admitted, I am having my mid-life crisis right now – even though I am 21. Then she presented Melancholy, which is her upcoming single.

Strong Storytelling and Interaction by Mina Richman

The intermission was really short, roughly 15 minutes. Mina Richman‘ set was some 90 minutes long. There was no encore – she stated that she felt that this “tradition” felt a bit of strange to her. Oxygen and First Moments of Happiness were the first songs of the set, both from her recent album. She impressed with a very relatable performance and took several opportunities to share stories about the songs – or things about her life. For example, she shared that the day before, at the Wuppertal show, she recognized that her trousers are far too large, but she did not come with another one. Thus, part of her stage outfit had been a foldback. Multiple times, she thanked the audience for being there (even though the last Düsseldorf show had significantly more people) and that she is happy that so far they did not have to cancel any concert of the tour. The audience was dancing with her and listening to her stories. At songs like You, they also clapped their hands to her music.

There was also a strong social-political touch. Before Grow Up, Mina talked a lot about her Iranian-origin father and how the country had changed in recent past. She also shared that women doing music are prosecuted there. The next one was Baba Said, where Richman also draw a link between the political changes in her father’s home country and Germany’s recent right wing-dominated state elections. She played that song as a solo track. The show slowly came to an end, but for Take it to go, Yasmina came back on stage with her guitarist. The stage was packed, but that duet version was really a nice listen. I do agree to political opinion she gave before the song Work. When she announced that the last song of her set was about to come, the fans quite clearly demanded the title track of her 2022 EP, Jaywalker. So Düsseldorf got that one before most fans left the FFT happily.

Mina Richman – My View

Both artists, Yasmina and Mina Richman, created a beautiful atmosphere. Yasmina definitely won some more friends and fans in Germany, while Mina Richman underlined her storytelling skills. During the show, she also mentioned the close friendship relation with her band – and you indeed felt that link on stage. She and her band had fun, were energetic, but also gave Düsseldorf some deeper and more reflecting moments. Overall, the concert sent a lot of strong messages.
